The Territorial Young Marines were truly honored to be a part of your Flag Retirement Ceremony. Thank you for allowing our Young Marines the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful tradition and to learn firsthand the importance of honoring our flag and all that it represents.

Yesterday, the Territorial Young Marines, alongside VFW Post 1763, walked in remembrance of the 13 brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice at Abbey Gate in Kabul, Afghanistan, on August 26, 2021.

It was an incredible honor to come together as a community to remember them not simply as the “Fallen 13,” but as 13 individuals whose names, lives, courage, and sacrifice deserve to be remembered.

We walked in their memory. We spoke their names. And we will continue to tell their story.

This will be an annual tradition for the Territorial Young Marines and our community. A promise that as the years pass, their names and their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

We remember the 13. Always. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 YUMA REMEMBERS HEART OF THE NATION WALK 🇺🇸

On August 26, 2021, 13 American service members made the ultimate sacrifice at Abbey Gate during the evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan.

Five years later, Yuma will walk in their honor.

Please join us on Wednesday, August 26 for the Heart of the Nation 1.3 Mile Memorial Walk, hosted by VFW Post 1763 in partnership with the Territorial Young Marines.

This walk is about remembrance. It is about honoring 13 lives, standing beside our military families, and showing that our community has not forgotten.

EVERYONE is invited.

Bring your family. Carry an American flag. Walk beside us in remembrance.

This year, we walk in special honor of U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole Gee, whose words, “I love my job,” continue to represent the heart, courage, and selflessness of those we remember.

Wednesday was the beginning of something special.

We want to extend our excitement and gratitude to Murray Sports Academy and Coach Murray for generously donating their time each week to help develop the physical fitness, endurance, and confidence of our Territorial Young Marines.

A very special thank you also goes out to Melissa Brown. This partnership started because she saw an opportunity to bring together two organizations that share the same passion of investing in Yuma’s youth. Her idea, initiative, and willingness to make the connection turned this vision into a reality.

When a community comes together with one common goal to build stronger, healthier, and more confident young people everyone wins!

We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and are excited for what lies ahead.
