The Territorial Young Marines are recruiting for our January 2027 class!

The Young Marines is a youth leadership and service program for boys and girls ages 8–18 that focuses on developing character, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and a commitment to living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Through physical fitness, community service, Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) education, leadership opportunities, and unforgettable experiences, our Young Marines learn the value of hard work, accountability, and being part of something bigger than themselves.

🇺🇸 Red Ribbon Week 2026 - Awareness, Community & Commitment! ❤️

What a wonderful opportunity to bring our Young Marines and community partners together in support of a healthy, drug-free future!

Our Red Ribbon Week activities began with the Territorial Young Marines proudly receiving a proclamation from the Yuma County Board of Supervisors, recognizing the importance of drug prevention, education, and empowering our youth to make positive choices.

As part of the Young Marines’ nationwide commitment to drug demand reduction, our unit participated in a Red Ribbon Week Run, reinforcing the importance of healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and making responsible decisions.

🇺🇸 We were honored to have the support of Virgil Tapispisan and S**O at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, who joined us with four active-duty Marines, ranging in rank from Corporal to Staff Sergeant.

These Marines led our Young Marines through warm-up and cool-down exercises, ran alongside them, and offered encouragement throughout the event. Their participation provided our youth with a wonderful opportunity to interact with active-duty Marines who demonstrate leadership, discipline, and commitment through their service.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ From the starting line to the finish, our Young Marines demonstrated determination, camaraderie, and a willingness to challenge themselves while supporting one another.

Red Ribbon Week is about more than a single event. It’s about continuing the conversation surrounding drug prevention, encouraging healthy choices, and helping our youth develop the confidence and character to make positive decisions throughout their lives.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Yuma County Board of Supervisors for recognizing this important initiative, to Virgil and the Marines from MCAS Yuma for their time and enthusiastic support, and to our Adult Volunteers and families who helped make the day possible.

And to our Young Marines - thank you for your participation, positive attitudes, and continued commitment to representing our program and its values!

From our founding in Waterbury, CT in 1959, to today and the many units making a difference in communities across the country, our mission continues to inspire the next generation of leaders. Here’s to years of impact and many more to come! 🎈

Join us for a Parent & Prospective Recruit Information Night where you can meet members of our unit, ask questions, and learn about the opportunities Young Marines offers as well as the time, financial, and family commitment involved.

Our AV Superhero Spotlight series has officially concluded, and I want to close with a personal thank-you to our entire Territorial Young Marines Adult Volunteer team.

Behind every spotlight is someone giving their time, energy, and heart to this program. The planning, paperwork, teaching, mentoring, and work behind the scenes all matter. Your efforts give our Young Marines opportunities to learn, grow, and discover what they are capable of.

To my AVs: I see your efforts, and I appreciate you. I know you have families, careers, and responsibilities outside of this program. Thank you for making room in your lives for our Young Marines.

I hold our team to high standards because I believe in what we’re capable of accomplishing together. I hold myself to those same standards. These young people deserve our best, and I am grateful to serve alongside a team willing to put in the work.

Thank you for believing in our mission, supporting one another, and continuing to show up for our youth. Each of you brings something valuable to this unit, and I am proud of what we are building together.
