KIWANIS AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO KEY CLUB STUDENTS
Our Noon Kiwanis meeting of May 21st was a celebration in honor of 3 of our local high school seniors. The happy students were recipients of the Kiwanis Key Club scholarships to help further their college education in the amount of $500 for each winner. Scholarships are given annually to deserving graduating students who are members of the Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club at their high school. In order to be eligible, students must attend one of the high schools our Kiwanis Noon Club supports - Yuba City High School, Live Oak High School, or East Nicolaus High School.

Students and their families enjoyed their lunch with us at Cool Hand Luke’s in Yuba City, and each one gave a short presentation outlining their college and career goals, and how membership in Key Club has helped their student career. The recipient from Yuba City High School is Charlie Eggleston-Acosta, who will be attending UC Berkeley in the Fall with a major in microbiology. From Live Oak High School, the two recipients are Ashleen Madare (to attend UC Davis) and Ashlie Garcia (to attend UC Santa Barbara studying Marine Biology). Pictured here are Les Allen (Noon Club Vice-President) along with the three students and their parents or advisors.

Our Noon Kiwanis meeting of May 7th was a celebration in honor of 2 of our local high school seniors. The happy students were recipients of the Kiwanis Hope of America scholarships to help further their college education. These scholarships are given annually to deserving graduating students in memory of long-serving Kiwanian and educator Larry ‘Pete’ Petersen. In order to be eligible, students must attend one of the high schools the Kiwanis Noon Club supports - Yuba City High School, Live Oak High School, or East Nicolaus High School.
Students and their families enjoyed their lunch with us at Cool Hand Luke’s in Yuba City, and each one gave a short presentation outlining their college and career goals. Pictured here are winners Makinze Massey (East Nicolaus High School) and Natalie Contreras (Live Oak High School). They are shown receiving their awards from Kiwanis President Linda Evans, and with their families. Congratulations to Makinze and Natalie!
