That consistency changes lives for the better for our Littles, our community, and society as a whole. We’re so grateful to have a partner who believes that every kid deserves someone in their corner. Thank you!

Having someone’s back means knowing you don’t have to face the hard stuff alone.

Sometimes it looks like checking in. Sometimes it’s listening. Sometimes it’s simply reminding someone, “I’m here.”

For Danni and Hannah, that support goes both ways.

This is what showing up for one another looks like. 💚

🎃🎻 Christmas music? In OCTOBER? Not on Colin's watch.

Anna Lee's Co. is BACK for another year of Jingle Bells & Power Cords: The Big Holiday Battle of the Bands!

Last year, they gave us their take on You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. This year? Well, they're still working on that part. 😂

But Colin has generously agreed to acknowledge the existence of Christmas music beginning on Black Friday. Until then, he's got a little Halloween treat for you. 🧟‍♂️🎶

The holiday covers drop and voting opens Friday, November 27, 2026! Every $1 donated equals one vote, supporting mentorship through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan.

🎸 Follow the Battle at bbbsbotb.org and get ready to pick your favorite!

BBBS Littles, Bigs, and Families recently haunted Hudson Mills Metropark for a Halloween party! The group went on a Scavenger Hunt, looked for tree leaves, and played Jenga, corn hole, and Frisbee. They made Jack O’Lantern cutouts and a spooky shared cemetery. Refreshments included hot dogs, fruits and veggies, and Fall foods like donuts, c***r, and Halloween candy. Everyone had a scary good time! 🎃 Happy Halloween from all of us at !

Meet our Match of the Month, Big Marcus and Little Sean! In the beginning, Sean would let Marcus take the lead in conversations and activities. Three years later, things have changed. These days, they talk about “basically anything” (Sean’s words). They get just as many ideas from Sean as from Marcus – even if Sean sometimes goes in skeptical and walks out surprised. They've tried karate, learned to code, explored museums, and even made toothpaste with a chemist.

Marcus was looking for common ground with a quiet kid. He didn’t hurry, he simply provided a consistent listening presence. Now Sean is the one showing them what's next. This is confidence that is built, not rushed, and it shows up everywhere: raising his hand, making friends, speaking up.

“How do you know I’ve got your back?”

Big Sam’s answer is about joy: Aarionna makes her laugh and makes her smile.

Aarionna’s answer is even simpler:

“You support me.”

Sometimes a few words say an awful lot.

That’s what makes mentorship so powerful. It isn’t one person giving and another receiving. It’s a relationship where two people show up for one another, bring something meaningful into each other’s lives, and build a connection that becomes uniquely their own.

For Sam and Aarionna, that also happens to include a mutual love of cats. 💚🐈

This is what showing up for one another looks like.

🎄⚡ WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DETROIT SOUL MEETS HOLIDAY MAGIC?

We're about to find out! 🎤

Meet SOFI K, our next featured artist in Jingle Bells & Power Cords: The Big Holiday Battle of the Bands!

With a voice inspired by Amy Winehouse and Duffy, and a sound that blends pop, blues, and neo-soul, this Metro Detroit singer-songwriter has been making music since she was a kid, releasing her debut album at just 14 years old.

Now she's bringing that same creativity and passion to our holiday showdown, and she's promising something special. We're taking her word for it, but you'll have to wait to hear what she's been working on! 🎶

Sofi is joining fellow Southeast Michigan musicians to turn their talents into something bigger than a performance: support for young people who deserve someone in their corner.

Through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan, caring adult volunteers become mentors, building relationships that help young people discover new possibilities and feel supported.

🎸 The Battle kicks off November 27, 2026. Every $1 donated = 1 vote for your favorite act and support for local mentorship!

Join Team SOFI K and help rally the crowd, by sharing this video, before the music drops!
