A Pastoral Call for Peace
Political violence has no place in our communities or our nation. No disagreement, grievance, or ideology justifies harming another person. Every human life bears the image of God, including those with whom we strongly disagree.
Jesus calls us to be peacemakers not merely people who desire peace, but people who practice it. Let us reject hatred, refuse dehumanizing language, pray for those affected by violence, and work together for a society where differences are addressed with courage, compassion, and respect.
A Prayer for Peace
God of mercy and peace,
bring an end to political violence and calm the fear and anger within our nation. Comfort all who have been harmed and strengthen those who grieve. Protect our communities, guide our leaders, and turn every heart away from hatred and vengeance.
Teach us to listen before speaking, to love across our differences, and to see your image in every person. Make us instruments of your peace so that justice, healing, and reconciliation may overcome division.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, we pray. Amen.
