Two for Tuesday - we're honoring veterans next month with 2 Zoom programs!

First is a presentation by the U.S. Army Women’s Museum about the WACs (Women’s Army Corps) of the Vietnam War, who were sent overseas to train native women to be soldiers and nurses for their own Corps.

Then the following week, join historian Kassidy Cobb over Zoom as she revisits the U.S. Colored Troops of the American Civil War, with both biographies and personal testimony about her experience in researching and honoring these veterans.

Register on our website (or call the library) to sign up and get the Zoom links.

Fan Friday - guess who's been out/about in the community lately!

1. Last weekend we had 2 staff members representing the library at the Yorktown Lions Halloween Parade/Carnival, to share news of our upcoming programs.

2. This week 1 of our children's librarians stopped at GW Elementary in support of the new library media center that officially opened. Congrats to Lakeland Central School District for these beautiful new centers!

3. Last but not least, we had a table at Van Cortlandtville elementary last night for their ENL Fair (English as a New Language), and got to sign people up for library cards 📚💳

To all those we met (and those we missed), we hope to see you at the library soon!

Wednesday Wisdom - what if we told you that there was an easier way to make plans for the weekend and actually stick to them? Join us next Tuesday* for a virtual "lunch & learn" with Kayla Kaplowitz of The Plan, a weekly newsletter/family events calendar subscription helping hundreds of local parents in Northern Westchester and Fairfield County. Learn about helpful apps and tricks to turn those screenshot "maybes" into actual plans with friends and family. This is a ZOOM program; please register online to receive the Zoom link.
