Alliance For Safe Kids Sharing resources to promote Substance Misuse Prevention, Treatment and Recovery; Youth Mental Health; and Opportunities for Thoughtful Service

The Alliance for Safe Kids includes parents, teens, teachers, social workers, health care professionals, business people, law enforcement, elected officials, media and faith community representatives, and members of civic organizations: in other words, our members come from all areas of the community. We share information on issues of importance to families here, ranging from after-school programs

to prom safety to gangs, drug use, and other issues that can lead to harm. By working together, we can keep our kids – and our families – safe.

πŸ’œ International Overdose Awareness Day 2026 πŸ’œ
Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we pause to remember the lives lost to overdose, honour the grief carried by families, friends, and communities, and stand in support of those impacted by substance use.
Overdose can affect anyone. Behind every statistic is a person who mattered deeply and people who continue to love and miss them. This day is an opportunity to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.
Whether you are living with substance use challenges, supporting a loved one, grieving a loss, or working to create change, your experiences matter. Through compassion, connection, education, and support, we can help build communities where people feel seen, valued, and able to reach out for help.
πŸ•―οΈ Today, we remember. πŸ’œ Today, we support. 🀝 Today, we commit to hope, understanding, and action.

This is a big deal for every parent.🚨

Today, Meta agreed to an historic $18 billion settlement after 29 states sued the company for deliberately designing Facebook and Instagram to be addictive to children, all while hiding the mental health risks. And the changes they've agreed to make are significant.

But the story doesn't stop with Meta. We broke it all down on the ASK blog, including what it all means for your family and what you can do right now.

One pill can kill. πŸ’Š

Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, and the most important thing a parent can do is start the conversation. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18–45...and it's showing up in pills that look completely legitimate. Knowledge is protection.
