Elder Abuse: A Community Problem with Community Solutions

Join us for Elder Abuse: A Community Problem with Community Solutions, a presentation developed by the Maine Council for Elder Abuse Prevention (MCEAP). This informative program raises awareness about the serious issue of elder abuse and provides an overview of the different types of abuse, current statistics, warning signs, and available resources for help in Maine.

Designed for older adults, caregivers, family members, and community members, this presentation encourages communities to work together to support and protect older people. While the program highlights valuable support services and resources, it does not include profession-specific training or legal reporting requirements.

This free presentation is open to anyone interested in learning more about elder abuse prevention and community support for older adults.

Join us at YPL for Quick & Easy Food Preserving Methods
Presenter Allison Carroll Duffy, Master Food Preserver and Author of the book Preserving with Pomona’s Pectin, will provide a demonstration of several quick and easy preserving techniques.

By the end, you’ll have all the know-how you’ll need to start preserving at home--even if you don’t have a lot of time! This program is being offered in collaboration with UMaine Cooperative Extension.

Musical Performance: Clarinet Duo with Emily Kulp and Katie Fanning

Emily Kulp and Katie Fanning will play a variety of music, with an emphasis on classical music. From Mozart to Bernhard Crusell and contemporary music to familiar tunes, this program will bring a mix of genres and beautiful music to your ears!

Emily and Katie have both been playing the clarinet for two decades and have experience playing a wide variety of music. They also perform as part of Seacoast Wind Ensemble and love sharing music with the community.

Recently we have seen an uptick in the number of unsupervised children at the library. A quick reminder: To keep our littlest library-goers safe, children under 10 must have their adult with them at all times during their visit. 🚸

For safety reasons, adults need to be in the same space as their child—not in a vehicle outside or on a separate floor. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a secure environment for all kids!
