Bright Side Youth Ranch Bright Side Youth Ranch's mission is to INSPIRE the next generation toward HOPE through a connection with a horse and a relationship with a mentor.

Bright Side Youth Ranch serves children and teens ages 8-18 years old that are experiencing both ongoing and current life challenges, crisis, or trauma. Those can range from anxiety, depression, anger, abuse, grief, neglect, loss, self-harm, behavioral issues, chronic illness, to living in a high-risk environment, or any combination of above. We are a safe place where hurting kids can find hope. We provide a unique setting where kids who are dealing with life challenges can feel the love and attention of a caring adult mentor, a horse and a Savior who loves them beyond measure.

Our Trails of Hope experiential trail rides invite children and teens to enjoy a guided horseback ride while pausing along the trail to reflect on Scripture, God's faithfulness, and the beauty of His creation. It's a unique opportunity to build confidence, connect with others, and be reminded that Jesus is our firm foundation and Good Shepherd.

This Saturday, we’re opening the gates for Trails of Hope—an intentional experience with horses, time on the trail, reflection, Scripture and conversation designed to point participants toward hope.

There is something horses notice long before we ever say a word.

Horses are incredibly sensitive to body language and what’s happening beneath the surface. That gives kids a unique opportunity to recognize their emotions and learn about trust, boundaries, and communication through their interactions with the horse.

“I feel like this is a calling God has placed on my life.”

This is what one of our mentors recently shared about working with a young lady from one of our partner organizations that rescues girls who have been trafficked.

This mentor has been with Bright Side since the very beginning and has walked alongside many participants over the years. But she was nervous about stepping into this role, knowing how much heartache this young lady was carrying.

What she discovered was that she didn’t have to have all the answers. She simply needed to be present, love her well, and point her to Jesus. God is the One who does the work.

Our sessions with this partner organization can look a little different from our other programs. Some of the girls may only be with us for a few weeks, while others stay longer, and many come carrying layer upon layer of trauma.

But no matter how much time we are given, we want to make the most of every moment.

The girls tell us how much they love coming to the ranch. You can see it in how they linger and how much they don’t want to leave.

Our prayer is that while they are here, they know they are seen, heard and valued—and that they experience the peace and presence of Jesus in this space.

And we are so grateful for mentors who are willing to step into these places and discover that sometimes, when we say yes to serving someone else, God does something in our hearts, too. 💙🐴
