IV Vets’ 2nd Chance Youth & Young Adults Program is for Alabama youth ages 16–24 who are facing barriers to education and good employment. This includes young people who have experienced foster care, homelessness, school dropout, justice system involvement, or other challenges.

Participants can get help with a GED, earn a skilled trade certificate, and receive job placement assistance in the Black Belt for positions paying $10–$15 per hour. Training options include heavy equipment, construction trades, CNA, Patient Care Tech, CDL, meat processing, and agricultural technology. Support with housing, transportation, food, and court or probation matters is also available.

Required participation—no exceptions: Participants must take a drug test, earn a skilled trade certificate, take part in mentorship and life skills activities, and volunteer 20 hours a month for one year serving the community.

The Apple Foundation Program, powered by Ed Farm, is a free 8-week program that provides 80 hours of learning focused on iOS app development fundamentals, design thinking, and digital literacy skills. Participants engage in Challenge-Based Learning while working collaboratively and maintaining ownership of their intellectual property, with the goal of creating functional apps or app prototypes – with no prior coding experience required.

WHO IT'S FOR
Alabama residents age 18+ interested in expanding their digital skills

CURRICULUM
The Apple Foundation curriculum is designed to address skills needed in the app economy and includes the following areas:

Coding (focused on Swift language)

Starting another chapter in training and opportunities. With so many data center being built across Alabama and other regions, our communities need these type of programming in order to be a part of the growth.
