March 2026 was a productive month for IV Vets, highlighted by hosting an Ancestry event in downtown York in collaboration with JustServe, reading sessions at York Headstart for infants and toddlers, commencement of warehouse renovations, a visit from esteemed friend Kelli Wolfe which included horse riding and social dining, a successful career fair that provided course registration opportunities for youths across the Blackbelt region, a food drive supported by JustServe, UWA Upward Bound, UWA students, and Sumter County Skilled Trades students, and the launch of our inaugural Electrical 1 training course. March presented numerous engagements. Notably, we concluded the month with a community listening session with Ed Farms.

February 2026 proved to be an eventful month, marked by several notable engagements. I was honored to host Alabama Extension, providing them with a comprehensive tour of the property and our mobile processor. Additionally, I had the opportunity to address the West AlabamaWorks group in Tuscaloosa regarding IV Vets re-entry and second-chance initiatives. A visit to Ed Farm's 2-day accelerator allowed me to engage with various organizations nationwide, exploring opportunities in the Black Belt region. Furthermore, I collaborated with JustServe to continue supporting our community's food needs. Lastly, I presented to the Home Builders Association of Alabama, discussing housing and training initiatives in Sumter County. As the first quarter of the year comes to a close, we reflect on our January 2026 activities. In Washington DC, our team attended the No Kid Hungry Summer Nutrition Summit to explore innovative approaches to youth nutrition. We also engaged with Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. at the Marion Barry Avenue Market and Cafe, discussing food security initiatives. A key takeaway from DC Central Kitchen was how IV VETS can effectively feed the community. Upon our return to the Heart of Dixie, we applied our learnings to serve the local community. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of JustServe, West Alabama Food Bank, York, AL, Diana Pullum, UWA students, Investar Bank, Tommie Armistead, and Damian Atkins, we were able to provide meals to York residents.
