Huge congratulations to hearing dog Rudy and his new dad Donald! Donald, who is Deaf, lives in the Western suburbs of Chicago. These two have a very special bond, and Donald has increased confidence, knowing that Rudy will alert him to critical sounds in their home. A match truly made in heaven!

Congratulations to another graduate hearing assistance dog team - Mark, Carol, and their fabulous dog Abbi!

A combat Vietnam Veteran, Mark experienced hearing loss during his service after an am******on dump blew up repeatedly.

Over the years, Mark's hearing continued to decline. When his wife Carol fell out in their yard, he couldn't hear her calling for him. He routinely missed knocks and couldn't hear the gas stove warning that the pilot wasn't lit.

Upon learning about hearing dogs, Mark's wife Carol, who also has hearing loss, reached out to Dogs On the Go to find out if their young Cavipoo, Abbi, might be a good candidate for sound work training.

Abbi now alerts Mark to 8 sounds, including one she picked up on her own with NO training: the sound of a package being delivered to their home!

With their beloved Abbi on the job, Mark and Carol have increased safety and confidence with living independently in their home. And that is priceless.

HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK

Volunteers are the bedrock & beating heart of Dogs On the Go.
Along the way, we create profound human and canine bonds that enrich all our lives. Nothing embodies this dynamic more beautifully than this picture of former trainee Ava and our volunteer Lianne. With gratitude for all the amazing people who make our work possible.

Big changes ahead for Dogs On the Go!

Moving house is always a daunting task, right?

Now imagine helping a non-profit move!

Our Board of Directors recently decided to forego investing in a brick and mortar building for now.

This crucial change will drastically reduce our ongoing costs - and allow us to remain laser-focused on:
1) increased community awareness of hearing dogs
2) increased numbers of coaching clients and their dogs.

We are especially grateful for volunteer Montana - who graciously invited us, the dogs, and our chaos into her home last autumn.

This move was accomplished only through the dedication of "our amazing community" - volunteers, clients, and board members alike. Together, we are unstoppable :-)
