Every month, LifeLine hosts PACT—Probation/Parole and Community Team, a one-stop meeting where people recently released from jail or prison can connect with resources and support.
Recently, I met with a young man and asked about his dreams for the future. During our conversation, he shared that no one had ever asked him what his gifts were.
How sad is that?
So at our latest PACT meeting, I gave everyone a sticky note and asked them to write down two or three gifts or strengths they possess. Some notes were written by participants and others by service providers—but when you look at them, you cannot tell the difference.
And that is the point.
Gifts are gifts. Strengths are strengths. Every person has something valuable to contribute.
Your life story is not your life sentence. Your current location is not your destiny. You get to co-author the next chapter of your life.
