OUR DAILY WORD: THURSDAY'S THOUGHTS With Kevin
Thursday June 18, 2026
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17
If faith that remains inside the heart, untouched by our actions, it is incomplete. Faith in action is life changing, it moves from words to action.
In James 2:14-17, we find a direct challenge to the idea that faith can exist apart from action. James asks, “What good is it if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?” This powerful teaching addresses a false assumption that merely believing is enough. James emphasizes that true faith results in actual action. A faith that does not move us to serve and love others is dead.
The New Testament teaches that genuine faith is a faith that works. It's about more than talking about Jesus, it’s about being His hands and feet in the world. As Christians, we are called to care for the poor, the sick, and the broken, not just talk about it.
Paul’s words in Galatians 2:20 show us that faith isn’t just a mental decision; it may greatly influence our identity. He writes, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me".
Faith in Christ means our lives are no longer our own. We live for Him as we are empowered by His strength. This transformation affects how we think, how we act, and how we love.
Hebrews 11:1 tells us "Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." We no longer live for ourselves but for Christ, and through His power, we can become agents of change.
Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going. Moses chose to side with an enslaved people rather than live in the comfort of Pharaoh's palace. Neither of them had the full picture. Both of them moved forward anyway.
Faith isn't about waiting for all the answers or knowing how everything will turn out. It's about trusting God's promises, even when we can't see the outcome.
What that faith looks like in practice will differ from person to person. Paul says in Galatians 5:6 "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." For some, it means loving and serving others sacrificially, including forgiving those who have wronged us. For others, it may mean a life of quiet commitment, prayer, and devotion directed wholly toward God.
True faith does not remain still. It moves us toward God, and in whatever direction He calls us. Whether that calling leads you into community or into solitude, into acts of service or into deeper prayer, the measure is not the form it takes but the faithfulness with which you follow.
I love you. But Yeshua loves you the most! Have a blessed day Raider Nation! 🕇🕆🕇
