The Oregon Hunter Jumper Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of hunters, jumpers, and hunt seat equitation.

The OHJA is dedicated to promoting and improving the quality of Oregon's hunters, jumpers, and hunt seat equitation, ensuring fair competition and sportsmanship, bolstering public support of the hunter/jumper industry, expanding and enhancing the image of equestrian competition, and providing academic scholarships and financial assistance to qualified members of our organization.

Dust off your eq boots and break out the navy hunt coats…the OHJA Equitation Challenge is BACK! 🏆🙌

Join us Saturday, June 20 at the Early Summer Classic for the ultimate flat class extravaganza. Juniors 14 & under, 15-17, adult amateurs, and professionals will each compete in their respective groups, with the top riders from each moving on to a final round to crown our 2026 Eq Challenge Champion. Ribbons awarded for each section and the final.

Test yourself, have some fun, and support OHJA all at the same time.

We all know riding is a fantastic form of exercise, but it’s easy to undertrain some areas and overuse others if you’re not paying attention. Cross-training will help you avoid pain and injury while improving your performance.

Athletic trainer and proud horse girl Caitlin O’Donnell believes firmly that riders should be treated as the athletes they are—and that starts with caring for your body as much as you care for your horse’s.

With summer show season kicking off, now is a great time to take stock of any aches, pains, or weak areas and make a plan to address them. Join OHJA and Caitlin for a FREE seminar on rider fitness for injury prevention & performance.

New for 2026, we made it way easier to join OHJA after your season has already started:

✨ No late fees
✨ Points backdated to the start of the season

👉 Joining later?
✨ $100 fee to backdate points

💛 And that fee goes directly to the OHJA Academic Scholarship Fund

So whether you picked up a last-minute catch ride, changed your show plans, or just forgot to sign up…you’re not out of luck.

📣🐴Did you hear? OHJA’s 3-tier awards system got some fresh updates for 2026!

As the show calendar starts to ramp up, it’s a good time to make sure you and your horse are in the right year-end points system: Local, Regional, or Open.

The goal of this 3-tier system has always been simple:
👉 Let members compete for year-end awards against others showing at a similar level and schedule.

Whether you mostly attend Outreach shows close to home, mix in a few rated shows, or spend much of the year on the road at Rated competitions, there’s a system for you and your horse!

At the July 2025 and January 2026 General Membership Meetings, members voted on several updates to how these systems work. This is our quick guide to help you decide which system is the best fit for you and your horse this season.

We also recommend consulting with your trainer to make sure everyone is on the same page!

✨ One more note for 2026:
If your plans change or you realize you picked the wrong system, members may switch systems during the 2026 show year without penalty. If you move to a higher-priced system you’ll just pay the difference in membership fees.

Show season is starting to heat up, so make sure you’re set up in the system that matches your goals for the year!
