The American Legion Auxiliary Department of California encourages Units and members to take part in opportunities that strengthen our communities, support our first responders, and build relationships with the people we serve.

When communities come together, we are stronger, safer, and better prepared to support our veterans, military families, and neighbors.

Proud to support National Night Out and bring our Willits community together.

We're looking forward to seeing you at National Night Out 2026! Willits PD will be at Bud Snider Park from 5pm-8pm on Tuesday, August 4th!

Willits is invited to join over 38 million neighbors across 17 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work.

Neighbors across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outdoors with the community and law enforcement.

Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.

Today, the American Legion Auxiliary Department of California honors the legacy and service of the Buffalo Soldiers.

National Buffalo Soldiers Day commemorates the Army Organization Act of 1866, which authorized the formation of the first all-Black peacetime regiments in the United States Army. These courageous soldiers served with distinction on the Western frontier and helped shape the history of our nation’s military.

We remember their strength, perseverance, and dedication to service.
