🚂 What an unforgettable adventure! Today, residents from Highland Ridge had the opportunity to see the legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 roll through. Known as the world’s largest and most powerful operating steam locomotive, this incredible piece of living history left everyone in awe!

There were plenty of smiles, stories, and memories shared as we watched this engineering marvel pass by. Experiences like these are a wonderful reminder that you’re never too old to enjoy a little excitement and make new memories.

Our best llama friends came to join us today at Highland Ridge!! Simon and Earl have been coming to visit us for years and it’s always the best day! Prairie Patch Farms always is so accommodating to bring them to us every time! We truly appreciate their friendship! There were many smiles, laughter, and snuggles today! 🤩

What are the odds?! ⚾️😄 Highland Ridge headed to the Kernels game today and by pure coincidence ended up sitting right next to the Williamsburg Junior High group! The stadium was full of hometown spirit, laughs, cheering, and a whole lot of baseball fun. Safe to say today was a grand slam of a day! ❤️🌽

This week at Highland Ridge, we had the joy of celebrating our incredible volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week. Each one brings light, love, and meaningful connection to our residents in ways that truly matter.

Scripture reminds us, “Serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13). Through every visit and every act of kindness, our volunteers are shining God’s love and bringing Him glory.

We are so grateful for the hearts that choose to serve. 💛

Fresh peeps just dropped 🐣💛

We’re egg-stra excited to share some of our newest (and fluffiest) arrivals! Thanks to our amazing partnership with the Iowa County Farm Bureau, these little chicks have officially hatched—and they’ve already stolen a few hearts around here.

Nothing beats the smiles on our residents’ faces while holding these tiny bundles of joy. Who knew something so small could bring so much happiness?

The magic didn’t end after prom—it just moved to Highland Ridge 💃🕺
Thanks to the incredible FCCLA students, our community was filled with the sounds of a live jazz band, a dance floor full of joy, beautiful decorations, and smiles that lit up the room. Residents and students came together on Sunday to share laughter, stories, and a night that truly bridged generations.
From twirls on the dance floor to heartfelt moments in between, this wasn’t just a prom—it was a celebration of connection, kindness, and pure happiness.
We’re so grateful to everyone who made this unforgettable evening possible 💙✨

One of the most special things about Highland Ridge is our rural community connections and our homegrown Iowa agriculture! 🧑‍🌾

Every year, we get the opportunity to be apart of the hatching program with Iowa County Farm Bureau. Today, we got to take our eggs and candle them. This is a process where we take our eggs and put it over a light to see if we can see the chicks inside of the egg! 🥚 🐣

One of our residents commented: “I will be 88 years old on Sunday and I have never see this done. What an experience!”

It just goes to show that no matter the age, there is always more learning to do! Stay tuned for when our little baby chicks start to hatch! 🐥💛
