Nothing blows our residents off course! Today’s class moved to our tornado shelter, proving that resilience, dedication, and a good sense of humor are always in shape.

At Highland Ridge, life doesn’t stop when the weather changes. We adapt, we laugh, we take care of one another, and we keep making the most of every day. Because life still goes on at Highland Ridge. ❤️ It was a great way to pass the time!

One Friday a month, we have the wonderful and talented Courtney Michel come and take us back in time with her music. This is a day we always look forward to keeping. Yesterday, it was more special than ever because Courtney brought her foster son, Liam, to join us for music. Every single resident had the opportunity to hold and snuggle him and the smiles he created were magical. Music therapy is powerful but there is nothing like a little baby in your arms 🥹 thank you, Courtney, for bringing your wonderful talent but also sharing your family with us at Highland Ridge 🥰

Today, was an amazing milestone of what hard work, dedication, and family strength looks like. Highland Ridge staff had the honor of escorting George to the awards ceremony where his century and family farm got awarded the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award. The Swenka’s are dedicated in their cattle, community, and most importantly, family. George and his son farmed together for 30 years. Before that, George followed his passion and alongside his own father, also named George, where they cultivated this passion for generations to come.

🏅💪 Highland Ridge residents proved that age is just a number during our first-ever IronRidge Challenge !

Throughout the month of May, teams worked together to conquer an incredible challenge:
🏊 2.4 miles swimming
🚴 112 miles biking
👟 26.2 miles walking

With determination, teamwork, and plenty of encouragement, our residents completed every leg of the race and showed us what strength, perseverance, and community look like.

We wrapped up the month by celebrating National Senior Health & Fitness Day, introducing our upcoming Walk With Ease program, and enjoying delicious protein smoothies together. 🫐 🥤

At Highland Ridge, wellness isn’t just about staying active—it’s about building confidence, friendships, and having fun along the way.

🚂 What an unforgettable adventure! Today, residents from Highland Ridge had the opportunity to see the legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 roll through. Known as the world’s largest and most powerful operating steam locomotive, this incredible piece of living history left everyone in awe!

There were plenty of smiles, stories, and memories shared as we watched this engineering marvel pass by. Experiences like these are a wonderful reminder that you’re never too old to enjoy a little excitement and make new memories.

This week at Highland Ridge, we had the joy of celebrating our incredible volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week. Each one brings light, love, and meaningful connection to our residents in ways that truly matter.

Scripture reminds us, “Serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13). Through every visit and every act of kindness, our volunteers are shining God’s love and bringing Him glory.

We are so grateful for the hearts that choose to serve. 💛
