Darcy welcome to freedom! You were on the kill list for someone else’s mistake and lack of competence. It took a whole group of people working together to secure things and begging to save your life. It took everything to get you out but now you’re safe and will soon be on your way to Florida. You will no longer be someone’s puppy factory.

Now that Loki has completed his heartworm treatment and his bills have been finalized. We owe quite a bit of money. We have to pay this off quickly. When we say heartworm prevention is cheaper than treatment we mean it. Loki didn’t have any proper vetting before he came to us. Now he’s living the high life.

We did our first cross country pull a few weeks ago. Ross had 9 extensions and we were the only rescue that offered to pull him. We were down to the minutes before he was euthanized at the shelter for more space. His foster was super excited for him to come. We had him neutered and up to date on shots before traveling. The temp foster in California said he was an absolute love and sweet boy.

Yesterday I got a call that he wasn’t acting right on transport. He was lethargic, wobbly, refusing food. Transport rushed him to the nearest emergency vet in Indiana. When admitted he had a temp of 105. He had lost 20lbs in two weeks. His sodium was so high it was off the charts, and his kidneys were not functioning correctly.

After talking to the vet and trying fluid therapy for hours at the emergency vet. Taking him to a second vet for another opinion we finally decided to help him cross the rainbow 🌈 bridge. He was in kidney failure and nothing we did could make him better. Last night Ross crossed the rainbow bridge not dying a number in a crowded shelter. He at least knew love in his final weeks and freedom. I’m sorry more couldn’t have been done. We tried so hard to save you.
His vet bill was $479 and his euthanasia with cremation was $391. We were not expecting any of these cost after paying for his transport fees and his initial vet visit.
