It is part of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. History Club began in 1910 when five women met for the purpose of self improvement and the study of history. These women tutored a young lady to qualify for college entrance which prompted interest and involvement in education. The History Club joined the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Tex
as Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1915. Some of the activities of The HCW are providing scholarships to graduating seniors of WHS; giving to Your Neighbor’s House food pantry, MD Anderson, Heifer International, Canine Companions, the local library, the tri-county women’s crisis center, and the local nursing home. HCW sponsors the annual Tour of Homes (held in December) and co-sponsors the annual art show (held in March) with the PARD. The club meets monthly at the First United Methodist Church. A special program is followed by a business meeting. HCW is a member of Keep Whitesboro Beautiful and the Chamber of Commerce. HCW is a non profit organization.
