Idlewell lost a loyal and dedicated neighbor on Idlewell Boulevard suddenly this week when Deb Munn lost her father Al Munn. He has lived on Idlewell Boulevard since 1970, and he was also a dedicated member of the South Shore Model Railway Club for all of us who have enjoyed that experience in Hingham with our children. Please see the obituary below for details about the memorial service on May 23rd.

With special thanks to our representative Speaker Ron Mariano who provided some key funding support as well as neighbor Ken Chapman working the equipment and leadership team member Saul Schrader for supervising the patio work, we have updated our Red Pier property on the Fore River to its highest level since we acquired it in 1933. Please stop by and see the new patios as well as the fresh beach area for the upcoming season. We expect it will get warm enough to enjoy the beach soon.

We had excellent weather Saturday morning for our annual spring cleanup day. We worked in Newell Park, Cadman Conservation Area, and we even did some additional mulch and beach sand for the Red Pier property. More on Red Pier improvements in a later post. With special thanks to our volunteers Saul & Alivia & Lucas Schrader, Ken Chapman, Betty Greene & Ian Murray, Sandy Yu, Thomas & David Cummins, Richard King, Matt Johnson, Tom Eldridge, Kyle Belcher, Jennifer Connolly, Pam Kuzia, Harry Castleman, Brian Jowett, Joe & Maddy Santoro, Kevin Harrington, and Matt & Dylan Tallon. This Saturday, April 25th at 9am (until noon) we need volunteers to assist with the cleanup of two main areas - the Newell Park and the Cadman Conservation Area (base of Seminole Avenue in the vicinity of 5 Seminole Avenue). This is our annual effort across Weymouth to do spring cleanup in common areas, and we have consistently assisted with these areas in Idlewell. We will provide gloves, trash bags, and brown lawn and leaf bags.

With special thanks to our state representative Speaker Ron Mariano, we have installed the new all-weather table at Red Pier for the season. The weather is improving rapidly, and the Idlewell Education & Improvement Association is working on a few more impactful improvement projects to our community Red Pier property right now. Also upcoming is our townwide cleanup day on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-12noon.

We had an excellent gathering of kids and families for our annual Easter Egg hunt in Newell Park this morning. Special thanks to our Idlewell leadership team for putting this together complete with hot pizza, chicken fingers, cold drinks, and a visit from the Easter bunny:
