Summer is coming to a close and if you're ready to "fall"🍂 into a healthy new routine, South Shore Health has a fitness class to fit your needs and schedule!

We've expanded our Community Exercise Program, introducing new classes like Aquatic Core Conditioning and Stretch and Core, and adding sessions to some of our most popular classes, like the Heart Healthy program, now offered Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

The newest addition to our pool classes, Aquatic Core Conditioning is designed to strengthen the core, increase flexibility and decrease back pain.

Stretch and Core is another new class focused on building core strength as well as improving muscular endurance and functional mobility.

September is CVI Awareness Month! 💙

CVI, or Cortical Visual Impairment, is the leading cause of vision loss in children in the U.S., yet it often goes unrecognized. Because CVI is a brain-based visual impairment, its symptoms can be complex and misunderstood, making diagnosis and support a challenge.

Students with CVI require specialized approaches to literacy that are tailored to their unique visual and learning needs. Our Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs) support children with all types of visual impairments, including CVI, by providing personalized strategies, tools, and training to help them develop literacy skills, build confidence, and gain greater independence.

At The Carroll Center for the Blind, we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop the skills they need to live fulfilling lives.

Chronic caregiver stress is a deep state of physical and emotional exhaustion caused by the long-term demands of looking after a loved one-both kids and adults. The stress and burnout are real. (Article linked in the comments on the post).

In Massachusetts, caregivers may be eligible for compensation via Masshealth in some circumstances. Contact MassHealth directly at (800) 841-2900 for benefit details and financial eligibility reviews.

Way to go Quinnie!

Thank you to the Jimmy Fund and its partners.

When Quinnie was a baby we would joke he was
going to be a baseball player, because he could throw his pacifier across the room as an infant.
While cancer may have taken athletic possibilities from him, look at him-10 years old, standing on the field of the iconic Fenway Park having won the ultimate championship-beating brain cancer twice!

He gets to do a lot of cool things and have amazing experiences, our Boston teams are great to these Jimmyfund kids, but cancer was the trade off. I wouldn’t want anyone to pay the price he has to do it all.

But this pic-it’s my new favorite. 😍
