With all the talk of Franklin here is a brief History of the man whom founded Franklin .

Daniel Franklin was most likely born in white county TN to John and Polly Jarvis Franklin on May 10 1822. His father and mother were married in North Carolina in 1814. Somewhere between 1820 and 1850 his father and several siblings would move to arkansas . He had several siblings but only Elizabeth little and Jesse Franklin are known.
Daniel and his brother Jesse Willis Franklin strode off to Texas in the 1840s to claim Land at Peters colony Between 1844-1845 Before he came to Texas he married one Mary Bounds in Washington County Arkansas in around 1841 . Mary drowned fording a stream leaving Daniel windowed with one living child -Poston Bounds Franklin. There was possibly another child that passed in infancy before he came to Texas . He would would eventually go back to Arkansas to claim his one and only oldest son and bring him back with him on horseback.
Daniel claimed 640 acres out of the Peters colony land grants near Lorenzo Dow Davidson who would become his second father in law eventually . In 1849 Daniel would wed Rachel Jane Davidson and between the years of 1850 to 1870 he would produce 10 plus children . On his land he cleared and built a cabin and a barn out of a local Forest timber.
Backing our story up to July 4th of 1846 at the Buckner settlement he was mustered under Andrew Stapp because Texas was at war with Mexico . Between the years of 1846-1848 he served as a private in the Mexican American war . Somewhere between the years of 1850 to 1870 he would give land to establish a school and become a prominent farmer and well known land owner . Rachel died in 1870 and by 1872 he had remarried to Anvolene Harris and had a few more children ( Lula and infant Franklin)
in the year 1855 Daniel became a part of the st. John's masonic lodge in McKinney Texas . Between the years of 1855-1873 he rose to the rank of 3rd degree Mason before demitting of his own volition . He would go on to become a founding member of the Lee lodge ""435 when it began in 1875 at Rheas Mill . Both of these Masonic lodges are still active being that Lee Lodge moved to prosper where it still resides.

.Between the years of 1851-1877 he would grieve
5 children all of whom are buried at Franklin Daniel himself left this life December 18th 1890 after a freak accident of being trampled by his own oxen . He only lived a few hours . In 1892 his daughter Lula passed at age 13 and was buried inside the fence of the family plot . His last wife Anvolene was buried at Pecan Grove cemetery.
As for the Cemetery he himself set aside acreage in 1850 for a family burial ground his family and friends and acquaintance are buried here. His daughter Cornelia was the last interment in 1952 being beside her Husband Dr.C.T Lewis outside the family plot the cemetery was maintained up until 1970s or so by the family . The arch was added in around 1976 by Winnie Lewis Myers. His son Poston owned and lived on the family farm up until his death in 1917;. Poston was buried in Horn Cemetery most likely as he was a close friend of R.C Horn . Daniel was often spoken about in newspaper articles by R.C as well.
Numerous of his children including but not limited to Laura, AJ and a couple others left Collin County settling as far as Arizona. As for Daniel's brothers and sisters they are mostly all interred in Lexington Illinois save one that is buried in Wyoming who became a rancher.
In around 1890 or so he say aside land for the Franklin school which sits near the present day Myers Park farm museum .
