The journey isn’t always easy. There are challenges to overcome, lessons to learn, and obstacles along the way. But with encouragement, guidance, and plenty of opportunities to grow, boys begin discovering what they’re capable of becoming.

One step at a time, they’re building confidence, learning responsibility, developing friendships, and finding a new direction in life.

🍂 A CLEAN CAMPSITE. A JOB WELL DONE. A GOOD FEELING!

At Fair Play Camp, keeping the campsite neat and clean is part of everyday life. Whether it’s raking leaves, sweeping paths, or putting things in their proper places, every boy has a part in caring for the place they call home.

These daily chores teach responsibility, teamwork, and the satisfaction of a job well done.

And there’s something special about stepping back, looking at a clean campsite, and knowing you helped make it that way.

It’s more than just keeping things tidy. It’s learning to take pride in your work, your surroundings, and yourself.

Sometimes, feeling good about yourself starts with something as simple as picking up a rake!

This is what Fair Play is all about.

A group of boys. Their Chiefs. Living together, working together, learning together—and growing together.

At Fair Play Camp School, change doesn’t usually happen in one big moment. It happens day after day: around the table, on the trail, during a work project, through a difficult conversation, or when a Chief simply refuses to give up on a boy.

Our Chiefs don’t just supervise the boys. They live life alongside them. They encourage them, challenge them, teach them responsibility, and help them discover that they are capable of more than they may have believed.

It isn’t always easy. In fact, it can be incredibly challenging.

But pictures like this remind us why it matters.

This is Fair Play. Boys and Chiefs doing life together—and lives being changed along the way.

These boys aren’t just writing articles. They’re learning how to think, communicate, and tell their story.

Writing gives the boys at Fair Play Camp an opportunity to slow down, put their thoughts into words, and share what they’re learning and experiencing. It builds confidence, strengthens communication skills, and gives them the satisfaction of seeing something they created become part of the Camp’s story.

There’s something important about knowing, “I have something worth saying—and someone wants to hear it.”

The articles they write give the rest of us a glimpse into camp life through their eyes. But for the boys, the value goes much deeper. Every pencil mark represents another opportunity to learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of.

Sometimes growth begins with a blank piece of paper and a sharpened pencil.

🍎 It’s Apple Butter Day at Fair Play!

There’s nothing quite like the smell of apples, wood smoke, and apple butter cooking over an open fire.

Today, the boys and chiefs are working together from start to finish—peeling and preparing apples, cooking them down slowly in a copper kettle over the fire, making fresh c***r, stirring the apple butter, and finally putting it into jars.

It takes time. It takes patience. And it takes plenty of teamwork.

But that’s part of what makes Apple Butter Day special. The boys aren’t just learning how apple butter is made. They’re working side by side, learning new skills, sharing responsibility, and experiencing the satisfaction of seeing a job through from beginning to end.

And when the last jar is filled, they’ll have something pretty delicious to show for it!

Just another fall day at Fair Play—and another opportunity to learn by doing. 🍎🔥

This weekend is Home Visit Weekend at Fair Play Camp School!

Home visits are an important part of the Fair Play program. They give our boys the opportunity to return home, reconnect with their families, and practice some of the things they have been learning at camp.

Camp is about more than helping a boy succeed while he is here. The real goal is to help him grow in ways that make a difference when he is back home with his family and eventually back in his community.

Home visits give boys and their families a chance to spend time together, strengthen relationships, and see where progress is being made—and where there may still be some work to do.

Then the boys return to camp with new experiences to talk about and build on.

We’re thankful for the families who work alongside us throughout this process. Home visits are another important step toward our ultimate goal: helping boys return home stronger, more responsible, and better prepared for the future.

We hope all of our boys and their families have a great weekend together!

It’s always extra special when our Camp Director, Chief Daniel, shows up at the campsite!

At Fair Play, leadership isn’t just about giving directions. Sometimes it means rolling up your sleeves, grabbing a knife, and helping the boys prepare lunch.

These everyday moments are a big part of what makes camp special. Working side by side, sharing responsibilities, learning new skills, and knowing that everyone—including the Camp Director—is part of the team.
