One more post about the column repair which was a HUGE effort. Here are pictures showing progress from evaluating the inside, to installing a new post, to making and installing the historic flutes to match the current ones, to repairing the cement to improve support and drainage, to priming and painting. (Though I dont have a picture of the painting.)

We at the Westford Common Hall want to reach out to the following contractors who made the repair happen, Thank You so much for your dedication and talents:

Jan Lewandoski- Restoration and Traditional Building for the historic column replacement;
Louko’s Plowing and Excavation- for cement work;
Trout Lily - for priming and painting.

And again a great big heartfelt Thank You to the 1772 Foundation and the Preservation Trust of Vermont in awarding a generous grant so the work could be accomplished.

SUMMER ART EXHIBIT, Westford Creates! – Open Hours Sunday, August 9, 3:00-6:00pm

Come visit the Westford Common Hall and view the lovely artwork created by 9 of your Westford neighbors. Go to the Westford Farmers Market, and Westford Provisions and then walk up to the white church to relax and be inspired.

On behalf of everyone at Westford Common Hall, we thank the 1772 Foundation and the Preservation Trust of Vermont in awarding a generous grant in support of the column that was damaged in 2024.

The work to replace the damaged column and underlying concrete foundation was conducted in 2025 and 2026.

This grant made it possible to help preserve the building's historic character while ensuring its continued safety and stability. These improvements allow us to continue welcoming the people we serve in a beautiful, well-maintained space that reflects the pride we take in our mission and our community.

We are truly grateful for their confidence in our organization and commitment to strengthening our community. Their generosity will have a lasting impact, enabling us to preserve this historic gathering place and continue serving our community for years to come.

In addition, we sincerely thank all our patrons for your patience and understanding throughout the repair period. We are grateful to those who believe in Westford Common Hall by continuing to participate in the many events held during this time. Your continued encouragement and commitment meant a great deal to us, and we truly appreciate your unwavering support.

Yes there is yoga this coming Sunday 8:30-9:30am at the Westford Common Hall! Join neighbors in a slow-flowing practice led by yoga teacher and Westford resident Doris Bittruf. Free will donation based, in support of WCH.

Please bring your own mat and any tools like blocks or straps. No previous experience with yoga is necessary, though a basic level of fitness is needed (such as the ability to get up and down from the floor).

Westford Garden Tour Gratitude!!

Thank you so much to all the Hosts for taking the time, hard work and cost to prepare for this event and willing to share their garden creations. Thank you to all of you that went on the tour and even despite the rain on saturday!

Thank you to Kim Harris and her team at Westford Provisions for sponsoring this event and throwing such a fun and delicious Garden Party!

Thank you to the volunteers who helped plan and promote the Garden Tour especially Orah who drove I dont know how many miles to post flyers.

This has been a fun weekend for us with the Garden Tour and dont forget that Garden Tour ticket holders can visit the last garden today.

I also want to remind you that the Westford Creates! Art Exhibit at the Westford Common Hall is having Meet the Artist Reception today from 2:00-3:00. Come see what your neighbors have created and talk to them in-person. Short opening remarks at 2:00 then you can mingle and be inspired at your own pace.

Can’t make it at 2:00? Open Hours follow the reception from 3:00-6:00.
