Fairfax Parks and Recreation

Fairfax Parks and Recreation We promote recreation in Fairfax with fitness programs, educational opportunities, and annual events! The Fairfax Community Park Committee was formed in 1994.

We manage the Fairfax Community Park & Path and the 100 Acre Woods. It examined a variety of projects, including purchasing and developing a community park. In 2002, the Committee received a Land and Water Conservation Funds (LWCF) grant to construct a Community Park and Recreation Path on 20.5 acres that was owned by the Town along the Lamoille River. The Community Park Committee led to creation

of the Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department in 2004. As the result of over 17 years of effort, the Fairfax Community Park and Recreation Path went from a community vision to reality when it was completed in 2006. The park & path have been a focal point for years. There has been land purchases, archaeological studies, community forums and committees, engineering, steering committee work, community and state administration collaboration and much fundraising. Much like the town itself, the Community Park & Recreation Path has shown continuous growth since its inception. With the pavilion and restrooms completion, the vision shared by the Community Park Committee is complete. Our next project remains to be the Fairfax Community Center. Located at 1210 Main Street, this almost 200 year old building needs some fixing up! We are on the cusp of beginning projects even with the limited funds we currently possess. Structural, wall restoration and bathroom updates are on the list to bring this old building back to life! Donations can be made to the Fairfax Community Center Restoration Project here:
