Fairfax, VT Historical Society Our museum is currently closed due to renovations. The Society remains active with meetings and fundraisers.

From Fairfax Community Library Town Librarian Sue Wade:

Please invite your friends at the Historical Society to the Town Office for an open house Saturday the 7th from 10-1. We’ll have the opportunity for people to do some research and there will be refreshments and door prizes ( though not very exciting ones!) Sheri Rainville and Sally Sweet have been combing through the Fairfax Room at the school and have brought some artifacts over to live in the new glass cabinet.
Also we will be opening up our satellite library, and people will be able to check out books!

We had a wonderful night at the 37th Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social. Huge thank you's go out to: the Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band for providing music, Minor's Country Store for the ice cream, our talented bakers who made 26 delicious pies, all our many volunteers who helped set up, serve pie and ice cream, ran our cash and raffle tables, and helped with clean up, and our warmest gratitude to our local community who came out to support us and make the night a success! We're already looking forward to #38.

We're very excited for the Pie and Ice Cream Social this evening! We are less excited about the smoky air. We are currently still planning on an outside event, but will have indoor seating available for anyone who needs it.

Saturday night!!!!

We are having a Jelly Jar style auction. You buy tickets and then put your name on each one, then deposit one or more tickets into a jelly jar next to the prize you want to win. After the band concert, we draw winning tickets for each prize.

Would you like to donate a prize to the auction? Art work, gift cards, handmade jewelry, and the like!

Thank you to the wonderful folks attending the community potluck Friday night who took up a collection for the Historical Society. We're going to start sharing 10-minutes stories from our town's incredible history at future potlucks by request.

The 36th annual Pie and Ice Cream Social was a success last night at the Fairfax Community Center.
A really good turnout despite being inside due to the weather.
An amazing concert by the Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band.
Lots of delicious homemade pies.
Danielle Rothy gave an update on the building project and reminded everyone about the July 4th Parade this coming Thursday and Party in the Park with fireworks Friday night.
I shared memories of Elaine Kirkpatrick, Pauline Lavallee, Newt Garland, and Lee Minor, whom we’ve lost since we last got together.

Andie Bryan, Margie Cain, and Catie Smith for serving pies.
Barbara Murphy and Carol Vallett for serving ice cream.
Sheri Rainville and Sally Sweet for running the cash box.

Everyone who made pies. Quite a selection and quite delicious.
Minor’s Country Store for helping supply the ice cream.
Nicole Bachand for opening and closing the Community Center and helping me get the ice cream and drinks to the Center.
Everyone who helped set up and tear down.
Everyone who came, had some pie and ice cream, listened to the band, and had a great time.
Hopefully we will see you all again next year for the 37th Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social and Band Concert.

We will still have a great time!
Due to circumstances, we will not be having our Jelly Jar Auction.
So we will have an old fashioned Social with pie and ice cream, and listening to the Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band!!!

Rain(inside) or shine(outside), it’s great evening of gathering with family and friends for homemade pie and ice cream while listening to The Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band playing your favorites. See you there!
