🌲πŸ₯Ύ TEEN TREE DISCOVERY HIKE πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ²

Saturday, August 8 | 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

Join WonderHood Project , West Custer County Library, and Trails for All for a fun outdoor adventure designed especially for teens!

This is more than just a hike. Participants will explore the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains with local outdoor expert Rob Bidner while learning to see the forest through new eyes.

🌿 During the hike, teens will:

πŸƒ Learn how to identify Colorado trees.
🌲 Discover the natural forces that shape them.
🌱 Learn how they can care for trees at home.
🦌 Explore interesting plants, wildlife, and natural features along the trail.

We’ll hike approximately 2–3 miles on a moderately easy trail, with plenty of opportunities to stop, learn, and explore.

🌿 WonderHood Project is open to families and community partners!

We created WonderHood Project to make it easier for parents in Custer County and the Wet Mountain Valley to find children’s activities, educational programs, family events, outdoor activities, enrichment opportunities, and community events all in one place.

If you are an organization, teacher, nonprofit, church, library, club, coach, program leader, or event creator serving children and families, you can submit your event or program to WonderHood Project for free.

Our goal is simple: to help families discover meaningful opportunities for their children, while helping organizers gain more visibility, reach, and participation from the local community.

Registered WonderHood Project users can receive email updates about new events, programs, and important reminders.

🌿 The Heart of Ranching Program Waitlist is Now Open! 🐴

Our 2026-2027 program is currently full, but families are welcome to join the waitlist.

Due to recent statewide changes affecting homeschool enrichment programs, a limited number of additional openings may become available for the upcoming school year.

Families on the waitlist will be contacted first if a spot becomes available before the start of the program or later during the school year.

The Heart of Ranching Program is a hands-on homeschool enrichment program for students ages 10-16 in Silver Cliff, Colorado.

Students build practical life skills through agriculture, animal care, gardening, tool use, ranch responsibilities, STEM projects, teamwork, and hands-on learning. Through real-world experiences, students develop confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic in a supportive team environment.

WonderHood Project is looking for a Program Assistant for The Heart of Ranching Program!

This is a paid position for the 2026-2027 school year with our homeschool enrichment program focused on agriculture, ranch skills, nature studies, life skills, and STEM activities.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, is patient, responsible, and excited to support hands-on learning in a ranch setting.

Schedule: Fridays, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Program dates: August 14, 2026 to May 14, 2027

Experience working with children is preferred. Ranch or animal experience is helpful, but not required.

🌿 Homeschool families in and around Custer County, we’re excited to share a new hands-on program for ages 10–16 in Silver Cliff.

🐴 **The Heart of Ranching Enrichment Program**

This program gives students the opportunity to learn through real ranch life. They will build practical life skills, confidence, responsibility, and a strong work ethic through agriculture, animal care, hands-on projects, and real daily work.

Students will:
β€’ Develop practical life skills including animal care, gardening, and tool use
β€’ Learn where food comes from through gardening, harvesting, and farm-to-table experiences
β€’ Build confidence and independence through real responsibilities
β€’ Develop a strong work ethic through consistent ranch work
β€’ Solve real-world challenges in ranch-based situations
β€’ Work in teams, take responsibility, and complete weekly STEM projects

πŸ’š Our first group is officially FULL
20 out of 20 spots were filled in just TWO weeks!

We truly didn’t expect it to happen this fast, and we are so thankful for your trust and support πŸ™

Because of this, we’ve opened a waitlist ✨
If additional spots become available, or if there is enough interest, we would LOVE to open a second group before the school year begins.

This also helps us understand how much this program is needed in our community πŸ’›
