Flyathlon The Flyathlon represents a synthesis of three of the world's greatest leisure activities; trail running, fly-fishing, and craft beer. run. fish. beer.

The Flyathlon is the flagship program of the Colorado-based 501(c)(3) organization Running Rivers. Our mission as an organization is to facilitate the connection of people with healthy freshwater ecosystems through novel recreational events, educational activities and on-the-ground projects. Flyathlon events engage participants in a trail running and fly-fishing competition within a laid-back environment designed to make fishing and running accessible to all participants. Importantly, Flyathlon events include a freshwater educational component and enlist race participants to fundraise for freshwater restoration and education projects incentivized with prizes donated by sponsors. www.flyathlon.org

End of Flyathlon race season vacation in Idaho. Managed an epic grand slam day, culminating with a solid bull trout on the most ridiculous streamer that I had in my box. Wore my Gary trucker hat because Stephen Wilson Jr. is a bad ass. **r

Fall in the Middle Creek watershed is pretty darned special. Lots of rain recently made for a great fishing day while we were out there scouting 2027 habitat projects!

I had two goals yesterday. First and foremost was to catch a golden trout in California, and the second was to finish my 10th Troutman. Mission one accomplished. Mission two will have to wait as the brown trout proved elusive…. Fly fish, human. Fly fish! w/ HOKA The Bruery® Mammoth Brewing

First cast / first fish on this beautiful ROSS REELS special edition San Miguel reel that was made to celebrate Colorado’s 150th anniversary. Only 150 of these were made, so I consider myself lucky to have found one and plan to fish it until I am 150. Yes, it is a brookie, but I caught it from the creek that is 100 yards from my cabin! Oh, I also got some new ink from the incredible 𝘼𝙅 𝙈𝘾𝙂𝙐𝙄𝙍𝙀 to celebrate my home state of Colorado and its many fishy waters….
