Preview time! Countdown calendars, advent calendars, holiday countdowns... whatever you call them, we're making them in November. All month long I'm sharing tutorials and inspiration for different styles of crafty countdown calendars. We're making holders like pouches and origami, and fillers like custom stickers and shrinky charms.

We'll have dedicated days in the studio to work together and I'll share videos here. Full November calendar is coming soon... October was a whirlwind.

P.S. All of these project ideas are from my own human brain... and I'm going to make them with my own human hands. I made this flyer with Canva Pro.

OMG surprise happy mail from Dan Goodsell gave me life today!! Dan Goodsell, the creator of my all-time favorite game sent me a stack of comics and a new card game! I was so excited I completely forgot to show any of the artwork… so go check out and follow Dan for daily smiles from charming illustrations. Thank you so much for this!

Sunday's paper party was SO FUN. So many paper treasures found new homes and I can't wait to see what folks make! But, I didn't actually pack everything back up after the event... so it's still all out. This means you get another chance at the collection this Wednesday, 2-8pm and it's totally free to browse!

Along with open studio, you can also hang out and craft with our epic collection of washi tape, stickers, stamps, paper punches, decorative scissors, and stencils for regular $20 admission.

Old print media is an invaluable source of inspiration and material for art making… especially for collage and mixed media artists. Craftlab has some hardcore paper lovers in our community and I love to bring in new things for folks to hunt through.

And along with the images of their time, we also get the articles. Here, Sassy, which branded itself as an alternative to typical teen magazines, is extolling the internet in 1995 because it has “an awesome ratio of about five men to every one woman.” Teen girls should “launch into cyberspace” because it is “being cruised by hordes of guys you’d actually go out with.” a/s/l anyone? 🙃

I have a large collection of my own teen magazines from the 90s and am periodically (😏) sharing some of the interesting content I come across here.

Incidentally, the cutouts missing from the full article were a photo of Keanu Reeves and a still from The Lion King, from the other side of the page.
