Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of justice.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African Americans in Galveston finally learned they were free. Juneteenth stands as a celebration of liberation, hope, perseverance, and the continued commitment to equity for all.

As members of the West Memphis Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and reaffirm our dedication to service, advocacy, education, and social action within our communities.

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
— Langston Hughes

❤️🖤 20 Years of Service, Sisterhood, and Impact 🖤❤️

As part of the West Memphis Area Alumnae Chapter’s 20th Charter Anniversary Community Service Project, members of WMAAC generously donated Depends and Ensure to help support the geriatric community in Crittenden County.

Tuesday, Chapter President, Dr. Latoya Beale, delivered the collected items to East Arkansas Family Health Center (EAFHC) for distribution to seniors in need.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to serving our community and uplifting those who need us most.

A special thank you to Soror Dr. Susan Ward-Jones and EAFHC for your continued partnership and dedication to improving the lives of residents across our community. We are grateful for your support and collaboration.

Together, we serve. Together, we make a difference.

🗳️ Social Action Committee Update 🗳️

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, the West Memphis Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. participated in the Blues Off Broadway event at the West Memphis Civic Center by hosting a Voter Registration Drive, Get Out the Vote Campaign, and Petition Signing Event from 6:00–9:00 p.m.

While no new voter registrations were completed during the event, 22 community members stopped by our table to receive information and engage in meaningful conversations about the importance of voting, civic engagement, and the responsibility we all share in strengthening our democracy.

Additionally, seven (7) individuals signed two citizen-led petitions: the Arkansas Ballot Measure Rights Amendment and the Arkansas Educational Rights Amendment of 2026.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to visit our table, ask questions, and learn more about the power of civic participation. Together, we continue to educate, advocate, and empower our community through informed action.
