Congratulations to our very first president and executive board member Norma Mattera. We are so proud of you and well deserved ❤️❤️❤️

Congratulations to Norma Mattera owner of Lion’s Den in West Islip, for being named as the 2026 Suffolk County Small Business Nominee for the 11th Legislative District, for her outstanding service and contributions she has made to her community. Norma has owned Lion’s Den for nearly 15 years but has been active in the industry for 28 years. She can always be counted on to hold fundraisers for local sports teams such as Girls Basketball, Ice Hockey, Soccer and Baseball. She supports PAL Association and private teams such as Black Diamonds. She is affiliated with PARP, a literacy program which encourages children to read. Lion’s Den offers a free meal to all children who complete the program. She was the first President of Women of West Islip started in 2010 and is still a member today.

In search of children’s book donations for Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. If anyone is cleaning put their home library please consider donating to this cause! I can arrange pick up this week!
Then bring them to Isabella’s house where she will inspect, organize, stamp, and distribute…
Please read the message below from Nicole (Wantagh mom)
My daughter, Isabella, has a library cart there called James' Rolling Library. This cart is in memory of James Lodato. It will be 4 years since my daughter donated this cart with books as her silver award and has kept it up on her own. She has continued to collect book donations and delivers the books every few months. The hospital reached out recently advising her they opened up more days and have more volunteers to take the library cart around to to the children. This means more books more frequently are needed and we ran out! They also provided a wish list.
Please consider helping Isabella keep this cart full for the children.

On Thursday, May 14th, the Women of West Islip hosted a wonderful Senior Luncheon at the Higbie Center filled with laughter, music, friendship, and community spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to our Chairlady, Barbara Mariarossi, and her amazing committee members Marybeth Jacaruso and Barbara Krucher for organizing such a beautiful event. Special thanks as well to Chris and Ed Ragan for all their help throughout the day and to Ed for capturing so many special moments with his photography skills.

We were also delighted to enjoy the wonderful music of Joe “Piano” Biondo, who kept the room smiling and singing along.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a memorable success! đź’™
