Schweitzer Environmental Center The Schweitzer Environmental Center is a non-profit conservation education center in Dundee Township providing public programs and events for all ages.

Schweitzer Environmental is a beautiful hilltop home amongst rolling hills of prairie grasses and oak. It's a space where we praise the art of simplicity and explore ways to cultivate community while spending more time with family and friends in the beauty of nature. Hear Pete Jackson Sunday 10/12 at Schweitzer - he'll present presents a broad swath of information about oaks.

Pete worked as a biologist at the U.S. EPA and prior to that he worked at the IL DNR where he was a program coordinator. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology, and he completed a vegetation study of Middlefork Savanna in Lake County as his research thesis.

He organizes workdays with volunteers to remove invasive species, conducts prescribed burns and performs other tasks crucial to help the ecosystems thrive.
