Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth, also known as “Freedom Day,” a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States.

As we celebrate freedom and the resilience and strength of our Black communities, we remember what Opal Lee, the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” reminds us: “Nobody is free until everybody is free.”

At Options for Learning, we remain committed to fostering inclusive, welcoming environments where every child and family can thrive, guided by education, equity, and opportunity for all!

STEAM is where curiosity comes to life!✨

For Teacher Naheed, science, technology, engineering, art, and math bring out the very best in her students. STEAM activities spark children’s enthusiasm, creativity, and joyful discovery as they explore how and why the world works. These hands-on moments help young learners build a deeper understanding of the natural and physical world around them.

At the heart of everything she does are her two children, who are her greatest joy, strength, and inspiration. 💛 Their love fuels the care and dedication she brings into her classroom each day.

We’re grateful for educators like Teacher Naheed, who nurture curiosity, wonder, and growth.

From ABCs to 123s, and so much more, our little learners had some BIG "I did it!” moments! ✨

From learning to read, spelling and writing their names, to counting, mastering rulers and scissors, taking turns, sharing, and learning how to be kind friends, these little learners have grown in every way. 💛

We're so proud of every one of them, and can't wait to watch them continue to learn, grow, and thrive! ✨

✨ Learning through play every day! ✨

Here's a fun STEM activity that our 4- and 5-year olds love that you can do at home: make paper caterpillars that grow! 🐛

This hands‑on activity builds critical thinking, creativity, and early science skills, using simple materials and lots of fun!

Plus, connect this activity to literacy skills by reading a familiar story such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Materials needed:
✅ paper towel
✅ markers
✅ pencil
✅ water dropper

Have fun and tag us at to show us your caterpillar project!

We’re grateful for educators like Kat Jung who pour so much heart into their work! 💛

Students’ smiles and laughter, enthusiastic participation, or a simple “thank you” from families are the moments that remind Teacher Kat why she loves teaching.

And when the school day ends, comfort comes in the form of her two energetic cats 🐾 zooming around the house and crashing for naps (just like her after a full day of giving it her all!). 😺

We appreciate Teacher Kat and the joy she brings to her classroom every day! ✨

🍎 Teacher Spotlight 🍎

Teaching is everything! 💛

Teachers wear many hats, juggle multiple responsibilities, and navigate challenges that only fellow educators truly understand. Yet through it all, the reward of seeing a student smile and grow is powerful.

For teacher Alicia Rangel, that joy is what makes everything worthwhile. She was inspired to become a teacher by her fifth-grade teacher, Ms. Solorio, whose patience, understanding, and ability to make every child feel valued left a lasting impact. Having the chance to teach alongside her would be an honor, and a full-circle moment rooted in gratitude.

We’re thankful for teachers like Teacher Alicia, who carry forward the care, respect, and inspiration they once received, and pass it on to the next generation every day. ✨

For Teacher Henry Tello, weekends are all about family. 💛 From making breakfast and sharing conversations around the table to spending his time refereeing soccer games for his kids’ teams, these moments are where connection and care shine brightest.

That same love carries into his classroom. Becoming a parent shaped the teacher he is today, inspiring him to lead with patience, understanding, and heart.

We’re grateful for educators like Henry, whose dedication to family and community helps create classrooms rooted in empathy, growth, and support every day. ✨

🍎 Teacher Spotlight 🍎

One of the most meaningful parts of teaching is watching children grow. 💛

Teacher Lori Flores loves seeing her students build confidence, discover their strengths, and take ownership of their learning. The “aha” moments, when something clicks and a child realizes they can do it, are what make teaching so rewarding.

The best advice Teacher Lori has received reminds her that she has control over what she holds onto and what she lets go. By choosing not to carry negativity, she creates space for peace, joy, and connection in life and in the classroom. ✨

We’re grateful for educators like Teacher Lori, who nurture growth, empowerment, and resilience every single day!
