🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July, West Alexandria! 🚔

As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, the West Alexandria Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day weekend.

We are also proud to introduce our department’s new look, including our newly designed department patch and updated police cruiser design. This new look is part of our recent vehicle upgrade project, which allows the department to replace older, high-mileage, and outdated fleet-related equipment while transitioning to a more modern, professional, and consistent fleet.

You may still see our previous vehicle designs during a short transition period, but this new design will become the standard moving forward.

These patrol vehicles will also include updated patrol rifles, weapons security, radar equipment, MDT computers, and improved cargo-area storage to help our officers better serve the community and respond appropriately during emergencies. These improvements will help increase professionalism, support recruitment and retention, and provide our officers with the equipment needed to serve West Alexandria safely and effectively.

We would like to thank Village Council for approving these needed purchases. While this was a significant investment, the financial impact was greatly reduced through careful purchasing, price negotiations, sourcing lightly used items, locating lower-cost out-of-state vendors, and utilizing grants, donations, and money saved over the last few years.

We also want to thank the members of our community, whose tax dollars ultimately made this investment possible.

A special thank you goes out to Yipes Graphics for helping bring the Chief’s ideas to life and getting this project completed in time for today’s festivities.

Come see the new look in person today at TVS from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We will be hanging out with the West Alexandria Celebration Committee at the Car Show!
