A lot of work went into playing ball today! ⚾🥎
After another round of rain Friday, several of our fields were left with standing water, and the odds of getting games played Saturday weren't looking good.
But our volunteers weren't ready to give up.
Before 8 AM, they were already at the park, draining water, raking dirt, preparing fields, and doing everything they could to give our kids a chance to play.
And that hard work paid off!
What looked like a day of canceled games turned into a Saturday filled with baseball and softball. Fields that would have otherwise remained closed were brought back to life through hours of hard work.
None of this would have been possible without the partnership and efforts of the Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources team at Wesley Chapel District Park, who worked alongside us to get as many fields ready for play as possible. We're grateful for their commitment to our park and the kids who play here.
This is what makes youth sports possible. Not just the coaches and players, but the people who show up early, get their hands dirty, and put in the work behind the scenes.
A huge thank you to our county parks staff, committee members, parent volunteers, umpires, and everyone who helped make today happen even if games for their kids and teams were canceled.
Not every game could be saved, but every game we played today was made possible by people who cared enough to try.
It takes a village. Today, ours showed up! 💙⚾
