Thank you Dr. Talbot, for your decades of compassion, kindness and excellent care for the animals of Carson Valley! 😍
Please join us in celebrating an extraordinary milestone for an extraordinary veterinarian.
This month, we celebrate Dr. Steve Talbot and 60 years of caring for the animals and people of the Carson Valley.
Dr. Talbot graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1965. Just one year later, he joined Carson Valley Vet as the second veterinarian in our practice. At the time, veterinary medicine looked a little different. Our practice cared for everything from livestock to beloved family pets, and Dr. Talbot cared for them all.
But his impact extends far beyond the patients he has treated.
Throughout his career, Dr. Talbot has shared his knowledge and experience by mentoring veterinarians and helping shape the next generation of veterinary professionals. One of those veterinarians was our own Dr. Cameron Ross, who was fortunate enough to learn from Dr. Talbot early in his career.
When asked about Dr. Talbot, Dr. Ross simply said:
“The most amazing veterinarian I’ve ever known.”
We think that says quite a lot.
And after 60 years, Dr. Talbot is still doing what he loves — caring for animals and sharing his knowledge with those around him. When he isn't at the hospital, you'll often find him enjoying another passion: hiking and exploring the great outdoors.
For six decades, Dr. Talbot has been a part of the Carson Valley veterinary community. He has cared for generations of pets, supported countless families, and helped shape veterinarians who continue his legacy today.
Thank you, Dr. Talbot, for 60 incredible years of dedication, compassion, mentorship, and service.
From all of us at Carson Valley Vet Hospital — and from the countless people and pets whose lives you've touched — thank you.
And the best part?
He's still going.
