A longstanding tradition of our Rotary Club, and , in fact one that is mandated in our by-laws is a semi-annual meeting of our past presidents we call the “College of Past Presidents “. We feel this draws upon the wisdom and experience of our leaders to assist our current president and President elect to guide them into the future growth of our club. This week was our Spring session and , as usual, came with spirited discussion and insights!

One of the great strengths of our Rotary club is the life path embodied in our motto “Service Above Self”. Today’s speaker, Rotarian Patrick Rock, gave praise in his presentation today to two great influences in his life, Rotarian Jim Rock, his father, and Rotarian Jeff Rock, his uncle. Patrick has taken over the helm from his father Jim as President of GRC General Contractors after learning the business from the ground up. He brings to Rotary not only a solid family tradition but also a love for his family and community!

Just as Rotary President Jeff Rock guaranteed, beautiful weather and bright sunshine greeted our Walk 4 Water participants this morning. These hardy souls walked a three mile course ; 1.5 miles to retrieve a one gallon container of water which they then carried the remainder of the trek. This gallon of water simulated what it is like for a child or adult to retrieve water from their village in Kenya’s Rift Valley. A job well done for these volunteers who live out our Rotary motto-“Service Above Self”
