HEALTH LITERACY:

Changes are coming to Medicaid beginning January 2027, and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (PA DHS) is making sure Medicaid recipients and those who work with them are ready.

PA DHS has created a new video to explain the changes that some Medicaid recipients can expect, how they can prepare, and how to get more information.

The video is available on PA DHS’ YouTube channel and on dhs.pa.gov/MedicaidChanges. Please share this video today and help our fellow Pennsylvanians stay informed and keep their Medicaid coverage.

Getting Ready for Medicaid Changes
PA DHS will be sending important information to Medicaid recipients via mail, text, and automated phone calls over the next few months.

Medicaid recipients should make sure their mailing address and contact information are up to date with both PA DHS AND the US Postal Service. The reason that Pennsylvanians need to update their address with both agencies is that if there are different addresses on file, it is possible a person will not receive their mail. In cases where PA DHS must check addresses against US Postal Service files, the address on file with the US Postal Service is the address that the mail will be sent to.

Here is what Medicaid recipients can do right now:

1. Update contact information with PA DHS: Log in to COMPASS at dhs.pa.gov/COMPASS or the myCOMPASS PA mobile app to check and update a mailing address and other contact information.

2. Report address changes to the US Postal Service: Visit USPS.com/move to update a mailing address.

3. Sign up for texts and emails from DHS: Visit dhs.pa.gov/text to sign up for texts and emails to get even faster notifications about benefits.
