Today, Building a Welcoming Watertown recognizes Women’s Equality Day: a time to honor the women who have helped shape our communities and to recognize the importance of women’s voices in civic life.

For generations, women have contributed to their communities as neighbors, educators, caregivers, business owners, volunteers, leaders, and advocates. Their participation has helped make our communities stronger and more welcoming.

This U.S. postage stamp commemorated the 50th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the constitutional right to vote. As we look ahead to the November election, we encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to make a plan to participate, learn about the voting process, and make their voice heard.

Back to School Reflection

Every child deserves access to the tools, opportunities, and support needed to succeed in school, regardless of background, language, family income, or circumstances.

Educational inequities can affect access to school supplies, technology, tutoring, extracurricular activities, and other resources that help students thrive. By recognizing these barriers and working together as a community, we can help ensure that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Building a Welcoming Watertown means supporting every child, every family, and advocating for equitable educational opportunities for all.

Join Us for a Nonpartisan Gubernatorial Candidate Forum

Building a Welcoming Watertown is pleased to cohost a gubernatorial candidate forum with the Watertown Daily Times and the Wisconsin Coalition for Religious Freedom. We believe informed civic engagement helps build a stronger, more welcoming community.

Everyone is welcome to attend, hear directly from the candidates, and learn more about the issues affecting Wisconsin and our local communities. This event is nonpartisan, and all gubernatorial candidates were invited to participate.

Building a Welcoming Watertown is looking for community members who care about supporting Watertown Unified School District students and teachers and helping create schools where every student feels welcomed, valued, and able to succeed.

Our Education Task Force works to identify meaningful ways our community can encourage and support local schools, educators, and students while promoting a welcoming learning environment for all. Whether it's developing new ideas, organizing projects, or strengthening connections between schools and the community, we believe everyone has a role to play in helping our students thrive.

You don't need to be a teacher or work in education to get involved—just a desire to support the students and educators who help shape our community.
