Watertown History Museum collects, preserves and shares the history of Watertown and Oakville. Our ever-growing collection of artifacts, photographs and documents is available for free public viewing at 401 Main Street. We try to respond to all inquiries - from around the corner and around the country. Besides manuscripts, books, and artifacts we have digital files of the Town Times newspaper from

1947 to 2000 as well as Watertown High School yearbooks, which are available online through our website. We also have a selection of Connecticut state and local histories, and family genealogies.

Please note that the Watertown History Museum is not affiliated with the Watertown Historic District.

We had a wonderful lecture this afternoon by John Cilio. He spoke of Spymistresses in WWII and their important roles in the war. In his words, these women “changed history around the world.”

Thank you John for teaching us about these incredible women! All of our participants left learning something new.

Please help us to congratulate our 2026 Florence T. Crowell Memorial Scholarship recipient, Ryann Walsh!

Ms. Walsh was selected based on the quality of the information she submitted on the Scholarship application as well as her essay.

She is an outstanding college student that expects to complete her elementary education degree in 2029. In her essay, she expressed the desire to help young students develop an interest in history early on. In addition to maintaining excellent grades, Ryann is an avid Cross Country and Track runner and was twice awarded NVL’s Most Outstanding Distance Runner and the All-State Cross Country runner. She was also named the All-NVL recipient 10 times!

Congratulations, Ryann, on your incredible academic and sports achievements!
