Spotted: THE Jake from CAS? 👀🐾

Remember Jake? The deaf dog you helped us take care of this winter? Well, turns out he’s become something of a local celebrity.

And honestly, we love that for him. ❤️

Jake is now happily settled in with Kate, Honey, Pickle, and the rest of his family. Honey has helped him learn how to navigate his new home, while Kate uses hand signals to communicate with him. These days, Jake is busy playing with his Lamb Chop toys, going for car rides, napping on the couch, and learning new tricks.

Diva still wants to be on the move. 💙 She loves her walks, absolutely loves a long car ride, and is one of those dogs who is ridiculously easy to be around. But lately, she’s having trouble standing and walking, and we need further testing to find out why.

Boris & Natasha’s Fund can help provide the diagnostic testing and treatment Diva needs. Read her story and learn how you can help: https://www.thecrossingsanimalsociety.org/post/a-boris-natasha-s-alert-diva-needs-your-help

Chickie wasn’t too much. She just needed the right family. ❤️

After two false starts and a month waiting at PetSmart, this energetic 2-year-old beagle finally met someone who got her. Today, Chickie is happily ruling the house, keeping her Lab brother on his toes, and living with a family who loves her exactly as she is.

Rescue Dog of the Week: Meet Lola! 🐾
Looking for a dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side? Meet Lola!

This sweet 1-year-old, 50-pound black Lab has spent the past month in a foster home after being rescued from a shelter.

She’s quickly made herself at home. With good food and lots of love, Lola has filled out beautifully, and her happy personality is shining through.

Lola is everything you love about Labs: affectionate, loyal, well-mannered, and happiest by your side. She’s leash-trained, house-trained, great with other dogs, and perfectly content curling up at your feet. And yes, she’s still a young Lab, so a few joyful zoomies are part of the package!

Looking for a best friend who will follow you on every walk, errand, and quiet evening at home? Lola is ready to be your girl.

For more information or to apply to adopt Lola, contact: The Crossings Animal Society at (215) 321-4673 or [email protected].

Still making plans for this weekend? We have a pretty good suggestion. 🌭🍦

The Dog Spot is hosting The Crossings Animal Society at their Lawrenceville location on Saturday, August 22, and they’ll be donating a portion of their sales that day to support our rescue work!

The Dog Spot is a hot dog and ice cream joint with a serious commitment to animal welfare. Their mission includes supporting local rescue organizations and helping raise awareness about dogs in need, so we’re very excited to be in good company.

The CAS volunteer team will be set up from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., and we’re hoping to bring along a few of our foster dogs, too!

Grab a friend or two, bring your dog if they’re good with other pups, and come grab a “Shelter Special,” some ice cream—or both! while supporting CAS and a really great local business.

🌭🍦 The Dog Spot 🍦🌭
2230 Princeton Pike
Lawrence, NJ 08648

We’d love to see you there! And remember: a portion of your purchase will come back to CAS to help local dogs in need… so come hungry! 🐾

Free to a Good Home — Pet Supplies & More 🐾

We have a few donated items that our shelter partners unfortunately don’t have a current need for, so we’d love to see them go to neighbors who can use them!

Available:

🐶 Two-dog stroller — barely used and almost new

🐱 Cat tree — good condition overall, but has a large tear on one side

🚪 Pet gate

🛠️ Three Rubbermaid folding tables — these have definitely seen better days 😂 They’re barely working, but may be salvageable with some WD-40, a little TLC, or if you happen to know a handy junker who likes a project!

Everything is free — we’d just love for these items to get some use rather than sit around.

If you're interested in anything, please contact The Crossings Animal Society at [email protected] and let us know what you're interested in. First come, first served! 🐾

🐾 When was your pet’s last routine vet visit?

It’s easy to put off an annual exam when your dog or cat seems perfectly healthy. But preventative care can help catch changes before they become bigger problems.

We asked Amy Cymanski of Nottingham Animal Hospital why those routine visits matter—and what your veterinarian may be looking for even when your pet seems fine.

Meet Highway, our Rescue Dog of the Week!

Highway earned his name the day he was found on the side of the highway and brought into rescue. Now, this handsome 50-pound hound mix is settling into foster care and showing us more of his sweet personality every day.

At 2–3 years old, Highway can be a little reserved at first, but with patience and consistency, he’s learning to trust and come out of his shell. He loves other dogs and enjoys having canine friends—although he can be a bit of a showoff with the boys!

He’s still working on his leash skills and building confidence, so he’s looking for a patient home willing to give him the time and support he needs to keep growing.

Highway has come a long way, and he’s ready for the next stop on his journey.

For more information or to apply to adopt Highway, contact: The Crossings Animal Society at (215) 321-4673 or [email protected]

Not looking for a new four-legged companion? If you know someone who is, please share this post with them! Highway will appreciate it.

Remember Gizmo from last week? Meet her friend, Binx.

Binx is a 2-year-old, 45-pound Yellow Lab mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

He loves being wherever his people are—whether that's going for an adventure, playing in the yard, or simply hanging out (especially if snacks are involved!).

After losing the only home he knew through no fault of his own, Binx is ready for a fresh start with a family who will never leave him behind.

Binx is ready to clear his calendar. Is there room for him in yours?

For more information or to apply to adopt Binx, contact: The Crossings Animal Society at (215) 321-4673 or [email protected]
