That’s exactly what the JabuLadies do — women in South Africa who restore ecosystems, create sustainable handmade products, and build a dignified future without sacrificing the nature that surrounds them.

Their story is proof that the most effective conservation doesn’t come from the outside. It’s born from within, from the hands and knowledge of those who love their land the most. 💚

Como becaria de nuestro programa Mujeres en Ciencia y Conservación, Stefanny lidera La Ruta Sonora, un proyecto que combina bioacústica, educación ambiental y cartografía participativa para identificar y proteger los anfibios de las montañas del occidente colombiano.

Meet Stefanny Quintero, the fellow who listens to and protects the voice of amphibians in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. 🐸

As part of our Women in Science and Conservation program, Stefanny leads La Ruta Sonora, a project that combines bioacoustics, environmental education, and participatory mapping to identify and protect amphibians in the mountains of western Colombia.

Her work reminds us that the most powerful science is the kind rooted in a deep love for the land. 💚

Did you know that mangroves store more carbon than most terrestrial forests and protect coastlines from floods and storms? 🌊🌿

Despite their immeasurable value, they are disappearing.

At W4C, we believe the most effective conservation starts within local communities. That’s why we support Simran Sinha, a young conservationist from India who works alongside rural women in the Sundarbans to find real solutions to the loss of these vital ecosystems.

Her project combines sustainable livelihoods and conservation research. 💚
