🍪 A little something sweet with a whole lot of purpose! 💚💙💜

This week, our RISE team rolled up their sleeves, put on their gloves, and got to work baking cookies for a very special reason!

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), our off-site program delivered these homemade treats to businesses throughout our community, along with a special invitation to visit RISE!

But these cookies represent so much more than a sweet treat.
Behind every batch is a team of hardworking, talented individuals showing what they can accomplish when given opportunities to learn, contribute, and work together.
And that's exactly why NDEAM matters.

We want our community to see the people behind the work. To recognize their talents, their dedication, and the value they bring to our workplaces and communities. Because meaningful employment isn't just about having a job. It's about purpose, independence, belonging, and being recognized for what you CAN do.

We're inviting local businesses and community members to come see that for themselves!

Want to enjoy Burg Fest but worried about accessibility, restroom needs, or finding a quiet place to take a break? 💚💙

We want to make sure individuals, their families, and caregivers know about this wonderful resource available at Burg Fest this weekend!

The Center for Human Services' Mobile Sensory and Accessibility Resource Center offers a calming sensory space for anyone feeling overwhelmed, an accessible restroom for those who may have difficulty using traditional festival facilities, and team members available to provide helpful information and resources.

Whether you're concerned about restroom accessibility, need a quieter space to regroup, or simply want to know what accommodations are available, this resource is worth knowing about!

Everyone deserves the opportunity to get out, participate, and enjoy their community. 💜

Today, we had the opportunity to welcome the Office of the Missouri State Treasurer, Vivek Malek, along with several of our local and state leaders to RISE Community Services.

Joining us were Warrensburg Mayor Bruce Uhler, Johnson County Recorder of Deeds Stormy Taylor, Warrensburg City Council members Max Ridenhour and Jan Jones, State Representative Brandon Phelps, and Johnson County Treasurer Heather Reynolds.

Our guests had the chance to tour RISE, learn more about the services we provide, see our programs in action, and meet some of the incredible people who make RISE what it is.

Following the tour, Treasurer Malek shared information about MO ABLE and how it can help eligible individuals with disabilities save for their future while maintaining access to important benefits. He also discussed Missouri’s Unclaimed Property program and encouraged Missourians to check whether money or property may be waiting to be claimed.

We are grateful for opportunities like today that bring community leaders directly into the spaces where services are happening and where people with disabilities are working toward greater independence, employment, connection, and opportunity.

We also want to give a special thank you to our neighbors at EnerSys for allowing us to use their parking lot as we prepared for today’s event. We truly appreciate having supportive community partners right next door!

Thank you to Treasurer Malek and each of our guests for spending time with us, asking questions, and learning more about the people and mission of RISE. We loved having you here!

The holidays can be a lot, and sometimes a little extra support can make a big difference. 💚🎄

Johnson County Christmas Cheer has several sign-up dates coming up for local families who may need a little help this holiday season.

Sunday, October 25 | 1–5 PM

Sign-ups are in person at Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, and you’ll want to check the event details for the documents to bring.

Please share this with someone who might need it. Sometimes simply knowing a resource is out there can mean so much.

Well, butter our biscuits — Dolly Day was a good time! 💕✨

Today at RISE, we celebrated all things Dolly with plenty of pink, fringe, big personalities, and even bigger smiles!

And because no Dolly celebration would be complete without a little sparkle… a few lucky folks found hidden diamonds throughout the day and walked away with a prize! 💎

We loved seeing everyone get into the spirit, strike a pose, and have a little fun together. Days like this are a pretty sweet reminder that sometimes you just need a fabulous hat, a little music, and a reason to smile.
