It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Brother Robert Henry "Bob" Rainwater, who passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 90.
Brother Bob was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Aurora Lodge #423, Walnut Ridge, in 1958. A proud 3rd-generation Arkansas Mason, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Henry Rainwater, and grandfather, Charles Rainwater, also members of Aurora #423. His son, Ross Rainwater, also continued the tradition as a member of Aurora #423.
I fondly remember the day Ross was raised in the old lodge across the tracks, when Bob immediately placed his grandfather’s Masonic ring on Ross’s hand, a powerful symbol of family and brotherhood.
Brother Bob became especially active after Ross joined Masonry. He faithfully served through all the officer chairs, attended Grand Lodge sessions, and was installed as Worshipful Master of Aurora Lodge #423 in 2019. In recognition of his service and dedication, he was honored with the Grand Lodge Pillars of Solomon Award in 2021.
Brother Bob truly lived as a Mason at heart. He loved his brothers deeply, and that love was returned by all who knew him. Though he reached the age of 90, his passing still feels unexpected as he was always strong, full of life, with a ready smile and a warm handshake.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in our Lodge and in the hearts of his brethren.
