📣 Walnut Ridge Kiwanis Club Guest Speaker

The Walnut Ridge Kiwanis Club was honored to welcome the Executive Director of Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Authority, Gracyen Bigger as a guest speaker at our most recent meeting. Gracyen spoke with members and community leaders about Issue 3 and Economic Development Districts (EDDs) in Arkansas.

During the presentation, Gracyen discussed how Economic Development Districts are proposed to work, including:

👉Utilizing new revenue generated by economic growth to fund investments WITHOUT RAISING TAXES.
👉Ensuring local control, full transparency and oversight by requiring public hearings, audits, and public records.
👉 Allowing local communities to identify and address their specific needs: job creation, housing, or revitalization while having the authority to keep unwanted developments out.
👉 Fixing public infrastructure and crumbling roads, expand broadband, address food deserts and lack of childcare.
👉 Issue 3 gives Arkansas the ability to compete with the 48 other states who have access to the tools.

We appreciate Gracyen taking the time to educate our members and encourage thoughtful discussion about issues that may affect communities across Arkansas.

If you have any questions or concerns about issue 3, please feel free to contact either Graycen Bigger or Terrence Ward with the contact information that we have provided below.

Thank you, Gracyen, for sharing your time and knowledge with the Walnut Ridge Kiwanis Club! 💙

Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the Walnut Ridge Kiwanis Club pauses to remember the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.

We remember the thousands of innocent lives that were lost, lives that were eternally changed, the families who endured unimaginable heartbreak, and the first responders, firefighters, police officers, military members, medical personnel, and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the face of tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to carry their memory—not only through remembrance, but through the way we serve our communities, care for one another, and stand together when others need us most.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the spirit of unity and kindness that emerged from one of our nation’s darkest days.

We remember. We honor. We serve. 🇺🇸
