Our history has a way of bringing people together. 📜🤝

This week, Chamber Executive Director Terrence Ward visited with Lawrence County Historical Society President Leslie Reed to discuss available resources, upcoming events—including their October 10 annual banquet—and ways to get more people involved in preserving and sharing our county’s history.

Member visits help us learn what our organizations need and how the Chamber can support their work. We appreciate the Historical Society’s investment in our Chamber and dedication to keeping Lawrence County’s stories alive!

🏥 Learning more about one of Lawrence County’s leading industries.

Today, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce attended a Healthcare Marketing Meeting hosted by Lawrence Healthcare, where area healthcare providers shared updates on new services, upcoming changes, and the future of healthcare in our region.

Healthcare is a major part of both our local economy and quality of life. It creates jobs, supports families, serves our residents, and plays an important role in attracting and retaining people and businesses in Lawrence County.

For the Chamber, being part of conversations like this helps us better understand the needs of one of our county’s most important industries and how we can support the businesses, organizations, and workforce behind it.

Thank you to Lawrence Healthcare for bringing local providers together and giving us the opportunity to learn more about what’s ahead.

✈️🎶 Sometimes tourism and community impact look a little different than people expect.

Someone may fly into the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport, get in a vehicle, spend the weekend somewhere else in the region, then return here to fly home.

And yes — that can still be a positive for Lawrence County.

Because they chose Walnut Ridge as their gateway to the region.

They could have flown somewhere else. Instead, our airport provided the access point that worked for their trip.

That matters.

Not every visitor who comes through Lawrence County will spend every minute — or every dollar — here. Tourism and regional travel simply don’t work that way.

But every time someone chooses to arrive here, attend an event here, travel through here or return here, our community becomes a little more familiar to someone who may not have known us before.

That’s part of the bigger picture behind Beatles at the Ridge, which just completed its 13th year. 🎸

For more than a decade, the festival has given people another reason to discover Walnut Ridge and Lawrence County.

Some come specifically for the festival. Some discover a local business while they’re here. Some return for another event. And some simply leave knowing more about our community than they did before.

Sometimes the first step in getting someone to come back is simply getting them to know you exist.

We should want Lawrence County to be both a destination and a gateway.

Whether someone spends the weekend here or simply chooses Lawrence County as the place where their journey begins and ends, being part of that journey is something worth building on. ❤️
