As the calendar flips to September, schools are headed back into session! Here is your friendly reminder to be mindful of school busses on the road and ALWAYS stop for flashing lights as children will be in the roadway entering and exiting school busses.

Good afternoon Coldenham community. Please be advised we will be hosting a large scale water supply operations drill this evening with multiple mutual aid departments. You may notice emergency vehicle activity in the area of the pond on Bracken Road, East Coldenham School, Rapid Tire, and the firehouse. We will have fire police assisting on Bracken Road and in the area of Rapid Tire on 17k. Please use caution traveling around these two locations specifically. This training will run from 7pm until approximately 9pm. Thank You for your understanding and cooperation.

Today members attended the 100th anniversary parade for our neighbors Plattekill Fire Department. We are beyond proud of our friends and everything they have accomplished over the last 100 years. Despite our recent hardship almost 30 members showed up and participated in this parade honoring our brothers and sisters from Plattekill. At the end of the day we proudly brought home trophies for first place chiefs vehicle and first place antique. This is a huge morale boost for our members who have endured so much over the last month and a statement to everyone that our company is still here, still doing our thing, and we’re not going anywhere. Since the fire members have continued to hold regular training and haven’t missed a single call for service. We will continue to grow and be better than we ever were.

Today members were presented with a donation by the Newburgh Chapter of Unico National. We are beyond grateful for the continued support we are receiving from local businesses, community members, emergency response organizations, etc. We are keeping track of all who are donating so we can properly say Thank You and recognize everyone once we start progressing on our rebuild and have the time to properly do so.

Members are currently at the firehouse selling raffle tickets. We will be here until 12pm. Come on by!

Members will be selling Holiday raffle tickets tomorrow August 22nd from 9am-12pm in the white tent in the rear parking lot of the firehouse. Come on by to purchase your tickets!

Ticket cost is $100. Several chances to win! See you there!

Anyone mailing a check for a holiday raffle ticket checks can be made payable to “Coldenham Fire Company” and can be mailed to the firehouse at 511 Coldenham Road Walden, NY 12586. Please write in “Holiday Raffle” in the memo section of the check so we can properly allocate funds.

This morning we hosted a joint extrication drill for our members along with Dan Leghorn Engine Company Orange Lake, Town of Montgomery Emergency Medical Services, and Town of Newburgh Emergency Medical Services. Attendees spent several hours training on school bus extrication. All agencies worked hand in hand completing multiple different extrication evolutions. These hands on joint training exercises provide valuable experience for all involved. Thank you to those agencies who joined us for this training session. Our members will be back at it again Tuesday night training on passenger car extrication.
