The world's oldest and largest Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia charity fighting CDH since 1995 in the UK and first registered as a charity in the US since 1995. CDH occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully form, allowing abdominal organs into the chest cavity and preventing lung growth. CDH occurs in 1 of every 2500 births; somewhere in the world, a baby is born with CDH every 10 minutes. 50% of b
abies diagnosed with CDH do not survive. CDH is as common as Spina Bifida and Cystic Fibrosis but there is very little awareness and even less research. CDH International is working hard to raise more CDH Awareness, and in turn, more CDH Research, while we continue to support families affected by this devastating birth defect. CDH International is an internationally recognized CDH charity that first came to the United Kingdom in 1996 under the name "CHERUBS" and supported the formation of "CHERUBS UK" with volunteers from our charity. We work with the many other CDH charities in the Alliance of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Organizations. CDH International filed for NGO status in the United Kingdom to better participate in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research in Europe. At the current time, we are not directly supporting patients and families with materials or financial assistance. 100% of donations through CDHi UK go directly to CDH Research at research centers. Not one pound will go to overhead, admin, travel, advertising, support services, etc. We look forward to continuing to fight Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia in the hope that someday soon, more lives will be saved from this horrendous birth defect.
