HAPI Trails, Inc HAPI Trails' mission is to provide a happy, healthy, and nurturing environment for abused, abandoned, and neglected horses.

We are volunteer-driven and dedicated to rehabilitating and re-homing these horses into loving, permanent homes.

Moving Into Fall With Momentum 🍂🐴

Next up for fall: a mini series of clinics to help our volunteers keep learning and growing. First is our Vet Clinic with Circle S Mobile Vet, followed by more hands-on healing and care clinics as long as this beautiful weather holds.

Two more Yellowstone National Park equine are headed to new homes, with a third adoption in progress. Chloe and Celeste are returning from training, and we still have wonderful mules and beautiful Arabians looking for homes.

We also have horses who still need more recovery — including scopes for diagnosis, along with special diets, supplements, medications, and extra care. Those needs add up quickly, and donor support helps us keep saying yes to the care they need.

We kicked off fall by celebrating our incredible volunteers with awards, dancing and a whole lot of fun. ❤️

And then there’s the fence crew. Crew #1 installed the final three large pasture gates. Crew #2 — our very attentive line of mules — handled supervision. 😄 With new gates, fencing, added dirt and leveled ground, every pasture is now safer and more comfortable for the horses.

And keep an eye out in Downtown Driggs! Peggy Sue, the HAPI Trails Pegasus who flew to Idaho to find her forever home, has landed for the Downtown Driggs Association Scarecrow Contest. 🪽🐴 Community voting runs October 8–31, so be sure to vote for Peggy Sue!

This Friday is all about our volunteers. ❤️

Past volunteers, current volunteers, future volunteers — if you’ve been part of HAPI Trails, or have been thinking about getting involved, we’d love to have you join us.

Friday, October 2 • 6:30 pm until
�HAPI Trails Volunteer Appreciation Party

Bring your family, come hang out in the barn, eat some chili, learn a few dance moves, and help us celebrate the people who give so much of their time to HAPI and our horses.

And because horses are the reason we all come together in the first place, we’re sharing a few favorite moments of the horses just being horses (and Mules) — the silly, sweet, curious moments that make us love them so much. ❤️

ADOPT — because we have 11 horses and mules to choose from.
�SPONSOR — because we have 6 horses that need your specific support.
�VOLUNTEER — because they need you, and we need you.

It’s been a busy couple of months at HAPI, and the numbers tell quite a story. 🐴

AUGUST:�
• 12 equines came to HAPI — 5 rescues, 5 Forest Service mules, 1 GTNP molly mule (Leslie), and 1 YNP mare (Mesa)�
• Eli & Mesa were adopted ❤️�
• 4 new volunteers joined our weekly schedule�
• We now have 32 active volunteers helping keep HAPI moving!

SEPTEMBER — SO FAR:�
• River was adopted! ❤️�
• 3 more volunteers are currently being oriented

LOOKING AHEAD TO OCTOBER:�
• We’ve approved 2 more Yellowstone National Park retirees to come to HAPI — gelding Jeronimo and Molly mule Susan

• Our Volunteer Appreciation Party is October 2! One of our amazing volunteers, BJ Reed, will even be sharing some dance moves with us. 💃 If you’ve volunteered with HAPI — or have been thinking about it — please join us!

And we’re already looking ahead to our 2027 Education Programming! Mark Langley is confirmed, with three more clinics in the works.

READY FOR ADOPTION 🏡
Apollo, Hedy & Delilah — three beautiful purebred Egyptian Arabians — are ready to meet their people. Apollo is 12, while Hedy and Delilah are in their 20s, doing beautifully and looking for loving homes.

And don’t forget the mules! Leslie is one of several available. She packs, she rides, and she is one tall drink of water!

Tin Cup was amazing and gave us a great start heading into our year-end fundraising season. Thank you!!

The numbers tell part of the story. Some of the horses in our care aren’t the ones you see in our posts — yet. Behind the scenes, they’re receiving the feed, supplements, veterinary care and time they need to heal, grow stronger and move forward.

The hardest part of rescue often happens long before the happy adoption photo.

Come meet your retired Forest Service mules who’ve spent their lives making the trails safe for the public. They’ve worked their whole
lives packing in supplies all around the Idaho and Wyoming area and now they deserve lots of love and a safe retirement home!
