📢 Note from founder (again): Some of the hardest things to do in dog rescue are to say “no” to kind folks who’ve found a stray dog & say “no” to owner-surrendered dogs with nowhere to go.
🐕 Since closing intake on new dogs, we no longer have a foster-home program nor do we have a boarding facility. Sadly, we are no longer able to provide vet care, training & transport of any new dogs to reputable rescue groups in northern states due to lack of resources.
😔 Residents in unincorporated areas of Grayson county do not have a county shelter; instead, stray dogs can be added to an intake waiting list (via Grayson County animal control) at the private limited-intake shelter, All American Dogs (Pilot Point, TX).
🚨 “Limited intake” means that a shelter is trying not to kill adoptable animals simply due to lack of space.
💔 Owner-surrendered dogs/puppies are not accepted at All American Dogs so their lives are at the mercy of the owner that can no longer keep them.
🙏 If you’ve ever tried to find safe placement for a dog (or a cat!) then you’ve experienced the silence when no one replies. (If you were met with silence from us, I’m personally sorry for that as we value each dog’s life & I care deeply for dogs I’ll never meet.)
➡️ If you’re a resident within a city’s limits of Grayson county (ex: Howe, Gunter), please contact All American Dogs directly to check if they serve your city/town or county; they have contracts with more than 35 municipalities. All American Dogs posts strays they pick up on their page.
👣 YOU have great power to help animals; YOUR ACTION matters: 1) promote compassion in children; 2) SPAY/NEUTER pets to save lives; 3) train/socialize your dog; 4) foster for an active rescue group or municipal shelter; 5) consider keeping that stray you found; 6) step up for the family dog that now has nowhere to go; & 7) adopt a dog from your municipal (city or county) shelter.

🐾 RIPLEY: “HAPPY TAILS!”
🤩 This celebratatory post is waaay past due. We are so proud of Ripley (aka: Marie) & extremely grateful to her forever family.

💓 After acing all we taught her (obedience & behavior) — & helping us understand her ways, Ripley was adopted into an exceptional home. She has continued to blossom & find balance in her forever home — & truly “hit the jackpot” because her adopters are experienced, loyal & loving bully-breed advocates.
🐾 We all see it in Ripley’s eyes & body language — she has found her peace. Her companion dog has found another true friend. Her forever humans have found a stellar snuggle partner.

💫 Sacred Paws Dog Rescue’s® intake on new dogs remains closed but we used to provide boarding/training & work as a team with reputable rescuers in DFW & northern states to save adoptable-status dogs that were to be killed at city shelters (due to lack of space). These dogs came to us tagged for safe placement but some later found themselves without reputable rescue group commitment due to … life happening … so we had to step up in order to keep promises we made to these dogs.
🐾Special dogs have landed in our care that weren’t planned — & these dogs are absolutely cherished because they created unforeseen pathways to love & joy that had nothing to do with human expectations. Such was the case with beautiful Ripley.

Note from founder: Speaking from my 20 years of dog rescue experience in north Texas, the nonstop amount of unwanted dogs/puppies & stray dogs/puppies in unincorporated areas of Grayson county is overwhelming, especially every spring when the amount of stray dogs/pups increases & owners seeking to surrender their devoted pets have nowhere for them to go. This is secondary trauma for those of us in animal welfare because there’s no way we can rescue all the animals that need safe placement. So if we failed to reply to you, please forgive us — we do care 🐾💔 & strive to reply to every desperate plea for help but the fact is, YOU are the rescuer you seek.
Our community outreach is focused in the Van Alstyne area; if you need dog training or behavior-modification advice, you must be authentic for us to help YOU help your dog.

Please SPAY or NEUTER YOUR PETS to SAVE LIVES.

It’s absolutely not okay to dump your pregnant dog nor is it okay to dump momma and newborn puppies … what you need to do is use your human brain & prevent unwanted litters of innocent puppies who are born only to suffer & die. And if momma survives, the emotional trauma she endured by being abandoned by someone she may have trusted takes experienced dog behaviorists using long-term conditioning & positive reinforcement to help her return to adoptable status.

You know the difference between right & wrong. (You don’t need an app!) Stop the crazy cycle of throwaway animals.

Promote compassion in children & youth.

Dogs Remind Us: CHOOSE LOVE.
Choose Joy. Choose Hope.
💕🐕 Happy Valentine’s Day! 🐩🤎

🐾 This post celebrates dogs & the fundamentally healing power of true friendships — those based on mutual respect & motivated by Love.

🤎Maxwell (super-senior puggles) was rescued as a stray & became sanctuary status after many years; he’s had multiple dog friends with us but his two closest dog pals passed away. 🐾 We’ve witnessed mourning from dogs but what we saw from Maxwell was extreme — he bonds more with other dogs than humans so we rescued Valor (senior chiweenie superhero) from a high-kill municipal shelter. 🤎 We hoped Maxwell & Valor would bond. What really transpired is inspirational on a daily basis & provides amazing quality-of-life for two old dudes.

💚Aiden came to us with an “aggressive” label from a municipal kill shelter but he actually was terrified of everything. When people remark upon the transformation of this magnificent husky mix, we give credit where it’s due: his hero is sassy brindle-beauty Brandy (abandoned by former owner). 🐾The friendship between these two dogs continues to help balance Aiden’s confidence & enrich Brandy’s life.

♥️The lookalike bully-breed couple has an incredible bond. Waylon adores Precious & follows her every move. They choose to sleep side-by-side almost 24/7. They’re both seniors with hemangiosarcoma of the skin. We know how Love & true friendships extends quality-of-life. 🐾Waylon was seized by animal control from neglect, cruelty & living on a chain; Precious was rescued as a stray.

💙 This big white fluffball has the ability to transform the behavior of his dog friend when multiple dog trainers & behaviorists, & many devoted fosters could not. Izzi survived being dumped in a ditch as a puppy & then contracting multiple diseases prior to rescue; Silo was an owner surrender who had grown up in total isolation.🐾What these two dogs have taught us on how best to communicate with dogs who have “issues” is invaluable.
