Today in Washington D.C., Executive President Paul Talboo was sworn in as the newest member of the Utility Workers Union of America National Executive Board, filling the seat formerly held by Eddie Hall.

As a member of the National E-Board, President Talboo will have access to, and the support of, the many strong UWUA leaders across the country. He is already seeking best practices and sharing ideas on bringing innovations home to G-555.

Local G-555 is saddened to hear of the passing of our former lawyer, Todd Smith, who vigorously represented our Local.

Todd was a man of many talents and he will be sorely missed.

The heartfelt condolences of all the officers and members of Local G-555 are with the Smith family in their time of loss.

Local 4 extends our condolences to family, friends and colleagues on the loss of Vice President Todd Smith - union official, labor attorney, singer/songwriter, wood craftsman, supreme defender of workers' rights and so much more.

Todd was always at the ready to lend his watchful eye, offer a considerate ear, or give experienced direction towards a solution to your current problem.

He lived a life that all of us should aspire: one of cheerful service to community. Thank you, Todd.

The deadline for the Utility Workers Union of America scholarship is coming up on April 23, 2026.

High school seniors who are the child of an active UWUA member during 2026 may enter. Students are eligible for entry into the scholarship drawing during the scholarship year that coincides with their graduation from high school, i.e., 2026 scholarship/2026 high school graduation.

To enter the drawing, students must fill out and submit the online scholarship entry form found here: https://uwua.net/programs/uwua-scholarship-program/

For members in all regions, the 2026 deadline to enter is April 23, 2026. UWUA will award one $2,000 scholarship in each of the UWUA’s five regions.

Region One: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico, and other Caribbean Territories

Region Two: Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia

Region Three: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas

Region Four: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin

Region Five: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Guam, and other Pacific Rim Territories

Awardees will be selected in a blind drawing from all the eligible entry forms submitted. Recipients will be recognized in the year selected upon proof of acceptance and attendance at any university, college, or trade school, etc.

With heavy hearts, the Local announces the passing of Youngstown retiree, Robert “Squeaky” Hunter Cook.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the the J. E. Washington Funeral Home (2234 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown, OH 44511).

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his Family and Loved Ones.

- the deadline to accept this year’s Stock Bonus is April 30th. Make sure to go into your Shareworks account and accept the grant before the deadline. If you do not have an account yet, check your company emails for instructions on how to create and access the account. ***To receive this year’s grant, you had to have been employed by 12/31/25 and remain employed on 2/19/26.

- also, you may have noticed on this week’s paystub 2 lines that read “Vesting Stock Tax” and “Tax Offset”. These are tied to last year’s Stock Bonus that vested this past February. See the photo below for details.
