At approximately 1:15am on 3/18/2026 Garfield Hts Fire was dispatched to a working house fire on Shady Oak

Squad 1 was on a medical call at the time and Engine 1 with 2 men initially arrived with fire showing from 2 sides of the second floor. Engine 1 was able to deploy an initial house line to protect exposures and knock some fire down from outside

Engine 2 arrived with 4 members and was able to initiate an interior attack, Maple Heights Engine company also arrived to deploy a second interior hand line

Squad 1 was able to quickly get in service to show up and assist

Thank you to our other mutual aid companies Valley View and Cuyahoga Heights Fire Departments. Also Brooklyn Heights and Independence had to handle additional squad calls while our crews were working on scene

Keep in mind the great work our members did to put a great stop on a fully involved working fire on a vacant house and having only 2 members initially arrived on scene
